Some moments are worth every ounce of chaos behind the scenes. 🌊💍
Capturing a proposal is one of the most unpredictable things we do. Our job is to make magic happen while keeping it a secret and outsmarting the elements.
For our dear friends and .jylee , the vision was simple: intimate, secluded, just the two of them on a quiet stretch of beach. We scouted the location ahead of time and had three backup spots ready to go.
And then the beach had other ideas. 😅
Come proposal day, the spot was packed and the tide kept creeping higher toward the decorations we’d set up. Dave and I watched the surf inch closer while put on an Oscar-worthy performance keeping Michelle calm and completely unaware.
But she made it. Dave got his moment. And it was everything. 🤍
Congrats to two of our favorite people, we love you both so much and couldn’t be more honored to be part of this chapter. Here’s to forever. 🥂
Planning a beach proposal? Here’s our tips:
📍 Scout early. Look for spots with a blind turn so there’s a moment of anticipation before the big reveal. Locate the nearest restroom.
🌅 Be smart about timing. Sunset has the best light but the biggest crowds. Weigh both and plan accordingly.
📶 Check your signal. Some locations have poor reception depending on your carrier. The last thing you need is communication breaking down at the critical moment.
🤝 Bring your trusted friend to the scout. Have them walk the path with you so they know exactly which route to take to the spot on the day.
📍 Cover your tracks on scouting day. If you normally share your location with your partner, disable it so a random pin at your proposal spot doesn’t give everything away.
📱 Have your trusted friend temporarily change your name in their phone. If your partner catches a glimpse of a notification, they won’t see your name and connect the dots.
⏰ Arrive early on proposal day. Buffer time for parking, walking, set up, and clean up. It gives you room to adapt when things don’t go as planned, and they will.
