Summer means constant movement around here
Soil getting loaded, plants arriving, materials heading out to job sites, greenhouse restocks, landscape installs — this time of year everything starts moving fast all at once.
A little chaotic sometimes, but in the best way.

A good Thursday (and our last Thirsty Thursday of the year) calls for good wine. Mark your calendar for June 25th, 4-6 pm. will be here pouring the the second vintage of the seriously delicious Vino Freddo. If you haven't tried this wine, do....immediately.

Andy of Farmer Wines said it best...
"One thing I have always loved about wine is the unique quality of each vintage. Every year brings an un-repeatable combination of sun, clouds, wind, rain, cold, snow, more cold, and regeneration to Vermont. Every year our footsteps, hand placements, pruning cuts, timing of tractor passes, and harvest dates land in different places. Every year the vines express a different message and give us what fruit they can. This is what terroir means. All of it together.

2025 was a cool, dry year and that means the blend of grapes in Vino Freddo is a bit different this year. We harvested smaller quantities of the red grapes Petite Pearl, Marquette and Crimson Pearl than in 2024, while harvesting more of the white grapes L'Acadie Blanc and St. Pepin.

The 2025 Vino Freddo from Farmer Wines is a refreshing chillable red porch pounder. Thirst quenching aromas and flavors of cranberry, cherry pie, dried orange peel and soft herbal notes with bright acidity are waiting for you. Stick it in the fridge or the cooler before enjoying it on its own or with your favorite foods. Once again, we think this is the perfect red wine to have with seafood: oysters (that’s right!), lobster, smoked sardines, bluefish pate, calamari salad to name a few. Try it with any grilled fare. It goes great with a bowl of pistachios. Roasted chicken and local cheeses are perfect with it too.

Vino Freddo is made with spontaneous fermentation and is never filtered or fined. Farmer Wines come to you directly from the grower! We are grower owned and independent - just hard working farmers and a great winemaking team. All of our grapes are grown with intention in West Pawlet, VT. Our commitment to ourselves, to you, to the people that farm with us, and to the land is to farm sustainably and ethically."

See if Here, Plant It at Home: Echinacea!
Lasting color, pollinator appeal, and incredible diversity to the garden. While many know the classic purple coneflower, today’s varieties are available in a wide range of colors, from vibrant orange and red to soft pink, yellow, and white.

Thrive in full sun and well-drained soil, tolerating heat, drought, and a variety of growing conditions once established. Whether you're designing a pollinator garden, adding summer-long blooms, or looking for low-maintenance beauty, there's an Echinacea variety to fit your landscape.

Natural wines are as diverse as the gardens we enjoy them in. From bright pét-nats and crisp whites to juicy chilled reds, these minimally processed wines offer a lot of personality. Whether you're unwinding on the patio, tending to your favorite blooms, or gathering with friends among the flowers, a chilled natural wine is the perfect companion for a day in the garden.

Mornings in the greenhouse have a rhythm.

Watering before the heat of the day settles in, checking what’s filled out overnight, spacing plants. This part of the season moves quickly, and the greenhouse changes constantly because of it.

There’s always something new to notice in here.

Every garden starts with the ground.
Before anything grows, the space has to be understood—how it drains, how it feels, and what it can support.
Right now, we’re in that early stage: clearing, preparing, and setting the base for what comes next.
