The Clay County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the discovery of human remains found in the St. Johns River off Highway 17 in Fleming Island. On May 7, around 5:07 P.M., a local homeowner called 911 regarding skeletal remains at the bulkhead of their property along the St. Johns River. CCSO Patrol units, detectives and our dive team responded to the 3200 block of US17 near the Doctors Lake bridge and began their investigation.

The victim appeared to have multiple leg tattoos, including the attached image. Please note - this is a sketch of what is believed to be a partial tattoo, based on the state of decomposition.

Anyone with information regarding this is encouraged to submit a tip through the SaferWatch app. You can remain anonymous and earn up to a $5,000 reward if the information leads to an arrest or significantly advances the case. We are located in the Silo Shoppes on CR 220 (near the Salvation Army). Our event space is available for your events in Suite 306. We have a private dining room with 30 seats. Choose your menu, music, decor.
