Inaugural Fisher River Highland Games 9:00am until 5:00pm at Fisher River Park, 251 County Home Road, Dobson, NC 27017. Bring your lawn chairs! Admission is FREE with a $10 Parking Fee. A portion of the Parking Fee will go to support local Boy Scout Troops. Cash is preferred for parking, but we will have a QR Code to scan for those that wish to use Card. Scottish Highland Games feature heavy athletics because of their historical roots in training for battle and celebrating Celtic culture. The events, like caber toss and stone throw, were originally used by Highland Warriors to build strength and maintain fitness between conflicts. These games became a way to compete and stay ready for potential battles without raising suspicion among the English.
