Good evening, band families,
The Dragon Pride Marching Band has had a full week of camp and has put in incredible work on music for the upcoming season, all while battling extreme heat and humidity.
Unfortunately, because of the stifling weather conditions this week, we were unable to safely complete the two miles of conditioning needed to prepare for the Fourth of July parade. After careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the band’s participation in this year’s parade.
Marching a two-mile parade while playing an instrument is not the same as simply walking two miles. It requires significant physical endurance, especially in summer heat. While I understand this decision may be disappointing for many of our students and families, the health and well-being of our students must come first.
I am proud of the work our students put in this week, and I am excited about the progress they are already making toward what will be a great marching season.
