Now that we've said goodbye to summer and settled back into the school year, it means it's also time to say goodbye to our summer hours. We will resume our normal hours and will be open Tuesdays through Fridays from 10 AM to 6 PM. We will be closed on Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays.

Happy National Lemon Juice Day! 🍋

One of my favorite kitchen tricks involves lemon juice - freeze it. Citrus juice adds a ton of fresh flavor to your recipes, but you don't always have a lemon or lime that's fresh in your fridge. By juicing and freezing your citrus, you'll always have some on hand when your recipe calls for it. For most people, you'll just need an ice cube tray to do this. Then, once they are frozen, you can transfer them to a freezer bag. If you're like me and use a TON of citrus juice, you might need a bigger container.

One of my favorite ways to show people that I love and care about them is to feed them. In my world, food is love. It's also something that everyone should have access to. Which is why I began donating meals to our local community fridges when we opened our doors in 2024. We donate extra meals and supplies we have in the shop. If there are leftovers at a catering event that our client wants donated, I will package up the food to prepare it for a community fridge as well. It is important to me to find ways to give back, and we will continue to make the donations we've been making since we opened while also finding ways to increase the amount we are able to give.

If you are also looking for ways to help our community, here are a few ways you can help:
• Donate to one of our local Community Fridges. Eat Greater Des Moines has information about what can be donated and where they are located on their website: https://www.eatgreaterdesmoines.org/new-page-1
• Drop off shelf-stable items to your nearest Free Little Pantry.
• One of the most important ways you can help is by making financial donations to our local food banks like DMARC , Food Bank of Iowa , or The Supply Hive . Your dollar goes farther with these organizations because of the contracts they have with suppliers.
