This post is a little late, but I wanted to tell you about our Costa Rica trip!
We usually have the privilege of taking a trip in the late winter/early spring and this year, we undertook an adventure like no other - The Camino de Costa Rica. We walked over 175 miles through rain, sun, feet of mud, up hills, down hills across such a beautiful country. But the best part of the entire experience was getting to meet so many amazing people. We stayed in their homes, shared their dinner tables, pet their dogs, learned about their farms and told them tales of our own lives. It was incredible. One of the most memorable trips of my life because it wasn't just a vacation from work. It was a vacation that remindes me that we might all live separate lives, but we're all very much in this life together and our time is to be shared.

This was my face (well, our faces) last night when we got the text that we had won the Gold Award in the officiant category

I felt so many things! First, surprised! Not because I don't think I'm a highly qualified (and quite funny) officiant, but because I didn't grow up participating in many activities that gave awards, so it's not something in my immediate thought pattern.
Second, beyond grateful. I couldn't marry people if they didn't trust me with one of the most important parts of their ceremony. The job literally wouldn't exist without all of the people who I married over the last 3 years, and the award wouldn't have been awarded if last years' couples hadn't have enjoyed it 😆
Thirdly, a little sad that we couldn't attend the award show, but we were doing the thing yesterday! I married Brittany and Sergio and Chris played piano for their ceremony, and sprinkled his live sets throughout his DJing for the rest of the night. It was actually pretty poignant to be doing the very thing that we were being celebrated for.
Thank you, past wedding clients. Thank you, fellow wedding vendors - it's fun working with your friends. Thank you, future wedding clients! We truly do love you all ❤️

We had such a great time at the Restored to Sanity Singers 21st Annual Singalong on the Magnificent Mile! Chris’s father Curt, his stepmom Scottie, and their friend Regan have been putting this on every year since 2004, and Chris has been involved for the last 7 singalongs. We’re already looking forward to next year!

Jessie found the warmest hat *EVER* at the Daley Plaza Christkindlmarket - come see it in person tomorrow night at Gilroy's! We’ll be there 6-9 having fun and hanging out, and on top of it being ugly sweater night, we’re going to be raising more money for City Voices! It’s going to be a great time, come make some requests, holiday or otherwise!
