As we close the gates on the 80th DeRuyter Firemen’s Fair, we have a lot of people to thank.

For four days, these fairgrounds were full of people, laughter, old friends, families, traditions and memories being made. After months of planning and weeks of preparation, seeing everything come together reminds us exactly why we keep doing this year after year.

First and foremost, thank you to our volunteers. This fair simply does not happen without you. Thank you to everyone who cooked, served food, sold tickets, cleaned, directed traffic, worked events, stocked supplies, washed dishes, emptied garbage, fixed whatever broke, and jumped in wherever another set of hands was needed. Many of you were here long before the gates opened and stayed long after everyone else went home.

There is also an incredible amount of work that happens before anyone ever walks through the gates. Buildings are cleaned, equipment is serviced, repairs and improvements are made, food and supplies are ordered, schedules are created, volunteers are found, and countless little details are handled behind the scenes. Most people will never see that work, but we certainly do, and we appreciate every person who helped make it happen.

Thank you to our vendors, exhibitors, entertainers, competitors, community organizations, neighboring fire departments, sponsors and local businesses. Whether you donated, participated, performed, competed, volunteered, provided a service or helped us out when we needed something at the last minute, you were an important part of this fair.

And most importantly, thank you to everyone who came through our gates.

Thank you for helping us sell out of fried dough, buying the fries and burgers, purchasing 50/50 tickets, supporting our vendors, riding the rides, watching the parade, cheering at the pulls and shows, listening to the bands, visiting the exhibits, watching the fireworks and simply spending part of your week with us.

Celebrating 80 years is pretty special. This fair belongs just as much to the generations who came before us as it does to those of us putting it on today. We are simply the current caretakers of a tradition built by decades of volunteers who gave their time and energy to this community. Some are still working right beside us, some have passed the responsibility on, and some are no longer here to see what they helped build continue.

This year, you showed up for that tradition, and we couldn’t be more grateful.

We’re tired, the cleanup isn’t finished, and there’s probably still something somewhere that needs to be put away, but we are incredibly proud of what our volunteers and our community accomplished together.

From all of us at the DeRuyter Volunteer Fire Department, thank you for supporting our department and for making the 80th DeRuyter Firemen’s Fair one we will remember.

The lights are going off, the midway is coming down, and before long someone will inevitably ask, “So, what are we doing for next year?”

And somehow, we’ll do it all over again.

Thank you, DeRuyter. We’ll see you at the 81st.

Yes it’s raining right now but it’s supposed to pass. We’re not in the business of being weathermen but based on the radar and common consensus of the experts on site, we will be ready to go by 5pm to see all of you! Day 2 of the fair is underway shortly and we can’t wait to see you here 🎡🎠🎢

Reminder: Cattle Show will be under the pavilion due to weather and as soon as this rain passes we will be working the track in prep for the Mini Mods Garden Tractor Pull 🚜

🎡🚒 THE WAIT IS OVER — THE FAIR STARTS TODAY!

After months of planning, weeks of preparation, and a whole lot of last-minute running around… the 80th DeRuyter Firemen’s Fair opens TODAY! ❤️

Before you head our way, a few quick reminders:

🎟️ 50/50 tickets are still available! Grab yours while you’re here and help support the DeRuyter Volunteer Fire Department.

🛍️ We have TONS of new vendors this year! Make sure you take some time to walk around, shop, explore, and see what’s new.

🚫 Please leave coolers at home. We have plenty of food and refreshments available throughout the fairgrounds, and your purchases help support the organizations that make our fair possible.

🐾 Please leave your pets home, too. We love them—but hot pavement, crowds, noise, rides, equipment, fireworks, and unfamiliar surroundings can make the fairgrounds an unsafe and stressful environment for animals. They’ll be much happier waiting for you at home. ❤️

🌽 Still want in on CO****LE? We have a couple of spaces remaining for tonight’s tournament! Pre-registration and payment are required, so don’t wait.

And then… THURSDAY NIGHT IS ON! 🎉

🌽 Co****le at 5:30 PM
🎶 All Good providing tonight’s live music
🎡 Ontario Amusements midway
🌭 Texas Hots and all your favorite fair food
🛍️ Vendors & exhibits
❤️ And four days of DeRuyter Fair traditions officially begin!

Come hungry. Come ready to have fun. Come see what we’ve been working so hard on.

🎡 2 Days Until the Fair…

For 80 years, the DeRuyter Firemen’s Fair has been more than an event on the calendar.

It’s where generations meet.

It’s where grandparents introduce grandchildren to the same midway they rode as kids. Where old friends pick up conversations like no time has passed. Where neighbors become family, traditions are carried on, and memories are made one summer night at a time.

In just two days, these grounds will come alive with the sights and sounds we’ve all been waiting for.

🎡 Midway lights.
🚜 Tractor pulls.
🐄 Cattle show.
🐴 Horse show.
💦 Pushball.
🥞 Pancake breakfast.
🎶 Live music featuring All Good, Swamp Brothers Band, and Chasing Neon.
🐂 Mechanical Bull.
🚗 Car Show.
🏃 Tromptown Half Marathon & 5K.
🌽 Co****le Tournament.
🍑 Peach Festival and Chicken BBQ.
🎆 Sunday Night Fireworks.
…and the locally famous Giant Parade that brings our community together like few traditions can.

And through it all, you’ll be supporting the volunteers of the DeRuyter Volunteer Fire Department, whose dedication makes this tradition possible year after year.

The countdown is almost over.

We’ll see you at the fair. ❤️

🚒 What You Don’t See Before the Fair…

The fair doesn’t magically appear overnight… although sometimes we’re pretty sure everyone thinks it does. 😂

Long before the first ride starts, the first Texas Hot gets served, or the first tractor hits the track, there are a whole lot of people working behind the scenes to get the DeRuyter Firemen’s Fair ready.

Tables and seating are coming out. Lightbulbs are going up. Buildings are getting cleaned top to bottom. Cooking equipment is being cleaned, checked, and put back into service. Food and paper supplies are being ordered by what sometimes feels like the truckload.

And every year, we keep working to make the grounds a little better than we found them.

This year that has meant things like remodeling bathrooms, updating fryers and stainless-steel work tables, improving ventilation in our food buildings, adding new parking lot lighting, and updating the riding arena—along with about 9,472 other little projects nobody will ever notice unless we don’t do them. 😂

Then comes the important math:

Do we have enough food?
Enough paper products?
Enough volunteers?
Enough people scheduled in every building?

And, perhaps most importantly…

Do we have enough cups for Rage in the Cage? 👀😂
Did somebody order enough cinnamon and sugar for the fried dough?!

Because THESE are the questions that keep fair people awake at night.

There are hundreds of little jobs that have to come together before we can open the grounds and welcome thousands of you back for four days.

Most of it happens quietly in the weeks and days before the fair—and a whole lot of it is done by volunteers who finish their regular workday and then come down to the grounds to start another one.

So when you walk onto the fairgrounds next week and everything is clean, lit, stocked, cooking, running and ready to go…

Just know there was a whole lot of “Who has the extension cord?” “Did anyone order that?” and “I swear we JUST cleaned this!” happening behind the scenes to get us there. 😂❤️

And we wouldn’t have it any other way.

🎡 80 years of the DeRuyter Firemen’s Fair.
🚒 171 years of the DeRuyter Volunteer Fire Department.
❤️ And a whole lot of people working behind the scenes to keep the tradition going.

🌭 6 Days Until the Fair!

The Legend. The Tradition. The Fair Texas Hot.

Ask anyone who’s been to the DeRuyter Firemen’s Fair, and they’ll tell you…

You haven’t really been to the fair until you’ve had our version of a Texas Hot.

Our famous Texas Hots have been a fair tradition for generations, topped with our one-of-a-kind homemade meat sauce made from a recipe that’s become a DeRuyter legend.

Here’s the catch…

You can only get it four days a year.

That’s it.

No food truck.

No secret online recipe.

Just four days each August at the DeRuyter Firemen’s Fair.

Whether it’s your first stop when you arrive or the last thing you grab before heading home, one bite is all it takes to understand why people come back year after year.
