This Tuesday's America's Soul Live will be a blast, featuring two of Ernie's close musical companions and also pals of mine...Lisa Astrella and Steve Pierce. Both are stellar musicians, part and parcel of Denver's vibrant Americana music scene. Lisa is a marvelous singer/songwriter/musician you'll immediately find irresistible, and Steve is an entertainer par excellance who also doubles as ASL's sound provider. The flyer below doesn't name them because I am technologically obsolete. For years and years, I've been creating flyers and art with a Microsoft Office program that has been discontinued. I just found out that "discontinued" means "you can't use it anymore, ever, you idiot. It's gone. You have to buy our new stuff." So, I'm switching to the proper program, but my learning curve is akin to the literary ability of whoever wrote "Horse With No Name." So...until I correct this mess, please know that Lisa and Steve are ready to join Ernie and me for a killer show on Tuesday, and you should be there...at least to commiserate with me. SEE YOU AT FOOTHILLS EVENT FACILITY ON TUESDAY!!!!

It's been crazy busy over the last couple of months, and I'm busy confirming guests for Tuesday's ASL...The folks I have in mind are wonderful and are rearranging schedules to join us. UPS delivered a nice little package today filled with copies of the Fall 2026 edition of the International Western Music Association's magazine, The Western Way. The distinguished-looking older fella on the cover in dramatic black and white is surely staring at either an eagle or a crow flying overhead. He kinda looks like me. Thanks so much to IWMA for publishing the feature story, and to my pard, western poetry icon Tom Swearingen, for writing it. The story is punctuated by portraits from outdoor photographer extraordinaire and one of the world's finest mountain wedding photographers, Savannah Chandler (www.savannahchandlerphotography.com), who also doubles as my daughter-in-law. A few nice shots from friends and family are thrown in as well. What an honor. Now, I'm gonna sit down and read about myself.

I'm pretty excited about tonight's America's Soul Live show. I love performing with these guys...two of Denver's premier string wizards and my fave all-star bassist. Lots of harmonica coming down tonight, as well. And more than a couple of brand-new songs. Drop on by the Foothills Event Space and Restaurant at Foothills Golf Course in Lakewood for a fine, fun evening.

'TAKE IT, ERNIE." Folks who come to America's Soul Live and pretty much all my performances are familiar with the whole "take it" thing. (Even if Ernie's not there, I still yell, "TAKE IT, ERNIE," so folks can imagine some little bit of magic he might be throwing in.) So, this Tuesday, it'll not only be "Take it, Ernie," but also "Take it, Jeff" and "Take it, Lindsey!" We have a jam session on tap, and I get to spend an evening with three of my favorite musicians (and, rumor has it, perhaps a couple more) jammin' it up. Basically, we'll yell out the song, the key, and "Take it!" and the next thing you know, some fine pickers will be pickin' away. My long-time pard, sweet-singing man, and bassist extraordinaire Lindsey Brown will join us, as will one of the smoothest guitar pickers in the land and a fine vocalist in his own right, THE Jeff Golden. We're planning on a grand old time, and sure hope you join us at Foothills Performance Space at Foothills Golf Course in Lakewood at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening. As always, come early, because the Foothills Restaurant is killer, with chow and drinks to die for. Can't wait to see everyone on Tuesday, the 15th!

Putting America's Soul Live's shows together is always interesting, and I figured that it's time to have some of my favorite pickers let loose and do their thing. It's always thrilling to yell, "Take It!" and see where a song goes, and some of the finest musicians in my little universe will do exactly that on Tuesday, September 15. So...we're gonna jam. Ernie Martinez, Jeff Golden, and Lindsey Brown are mainstays in the Colorado country, rock, bluegrass, and roots scenes, and are each at the top of the pickin' pile! Jeff has long been one of the area's busiest and best guitarists with whipped-cream smooth licks and an amazing repertoire. Lindsey Brown is the area's go-to bassist, and a fine singer, to boot. Of course, Ernie trades licks with the best of 'em, and I can always throw in a little blues harp to spice things up. Plus, a surprise or two may be lurking in the wings. Hope you'll drop by the Foothills Performance Space at Foothills Golf Course on Tuesday to join us for a fine, festive evening. Let's "Take It!" Oh, and make sure to come early for great chow and suds at Foothills Restaurant. See you then.

Hard to believe Labor Day Weekend is coming right up. You need to get your end-of-summer kicks in Colorado's most charming small mountain town, La Veta. I'll be in concert Saturday, September 5, at 7:00 at the La Veta Mercantile, my favorite venue in the land. I have photos tucked away of my ancestors in front of the Mercantile building at the beginning of the last century, and it's always a thrill to imagine I'm walking the same path they did so long ago. So, bid the hot summer goodbye at the La Veta Mercantile next Saturday. The Spanish Peaks will be stunning, the Mercantile's Emile Dubia will treat you great, and I'll do my best to make you glad you came. See you in La Veta!

I'll be making my annual appearance at the La Veta Mercantile in La Veta, CO on Saturday, September 5, and couldn't be happier about it. I love this venue and the folks who attend the shows. Owner Emile Dubia is a music lover and a great host, to boot. She'll treat you like royalty, so spend "Labor Day Saturday" with us in Colorado's coolest small town, La Veta. We'll see you shortly!

We're really looking forward to returning to the Beef, Beans, and Bluegrass Festival stage in downtown Scottsbluff, Nebraska, this Saturday, August 22. Just a hop, skip, jump, and scenic drive from Denver to one of the Midwest's most beautiful areas. Plus, it's the best FREE fair in all the land. I'll be joined by Ernie Martinez and Dana Vernon, with special guest pickin' from Dana's marvelous brother, Rory Vernon. An incredible Saturday lineup, along with good friends the Martin Gilmore Trio and High Plains Tradition, and a headlining show from the Tim O'Brien Band. Join us in Scottsbluff!
