No proposal. No big guest list. Just Kirsten, Josh, and Navajo peak towering above us at 13,409 feet above.
When these two told me they wanted to skip the engagement and write their own vows instead, I knew this elopement was going to be different. We hiked into the Indian Peaks Wilderness toward Lake Isabelle (moose country, if you’re lucky) and found one small patch of bare granite finally thawed enough to stand on, with Isabelle’s glacial blue stretched out right behind them.
No officiant. No script. Just two people who already knew, tying the knot on their own terms. Watching it happen had me rethinking everything I thought I wanted for my own someday wedding 😂 (but seriously.)
This is exactly why I push my couples toward moments like this: once-in-a-lifetime, completely unscripted, built around what actually matters to you. Not what’s expected.
Thank you for trusting me with it, Kirsten & Josh.
