There’s just something about a wedding day with a little history in the background. 🤍

Cara & Raheem filled Northwest Square on Saturday with so much joy—from getting ready surrounded by old brick and vintage details, to walking through those wrought iron gates into their courtyard ceremony, to laughing with their favorite people on the church steps.

And then there were the quieter pieces tucked in between—the way these two looked at each other, the sweet dances with their son and mom, and those few moments we stole away around the church for just the two of them.

Historic brick, white arches, winding staircases, a gorgeous courtyard… and a whole lot of people incredibly happy to see these two married.

There’s just something about this little courtyard at Villa Festa. 🤍

The fountain, the old live oaks, the ferns growing right out of the trees, the sunlight filtering through everything… it feels like you stumbled into a tiny Italian villa without ever leaving DeLand.

And as a photographer, give me beautiful light + old trees + a courtyard with this much character and I am VERY happy. 😍

Villa Festa is such a hidden little gem in Central Florida… and one I would absolutely love to photograph again.

Friday confession:

If I tell you, “Okay, ONE more!” during your session…

Do not believe me. 😂

I genuinely mean it when I say it. I really do.

But then we take the picture and I see another spot five feet away. Or the light changes. Or you do something adorable. Or I suddenly think, “WAIT. What if we did THIS?!”

And somehow “one more” becomes 10 more.

So if you hear me say it, just smile and nod.

We both know I’m lying to myself at this point. 😂

A little peek at an incredible day at the CFWA Summit! 💙

There’s just something special about getting a room full of wedding professionals together… learning from each other, laughing together, making new connections, catching up with old friends, and leaving with a whole lot of new ideas.

So grateful to be part of such a talented (and FUN!) wedding community here in Central Florida.

And the Waldorf Astoria Orlando certainly wasn’t a bad place to spend the day either. 😍

What happens when you stop asking what a wedding is “supposed” to look like and start planning around what actually feels like you?

You get Luke & Kelly’s wedding... and it’s live on the blog! 💛

A Monday afternoon at Northwest Square filled with their favorite people, nods to their theater days, a Lemonade Hour, board games, friendship bracelets, kids everywhere, plenty of laughter, a little frolicking 😉 and a ribbon-wand sendoff to end the night.

It wasn’t a wedding built around checking off traditions just because you’re “supposed” to do them.

It was built around their people, their personalities, and the things they actually enjoy.

And THAT is what made it so much fun to photograph.

Monday weddings should always have this much flair!💕

Luke + Kelly filled Northwest Square with their favorite people, colorful flowers, little nods to the things they love, and a wedding day that felt wonderfully, unapologetically them.

They told me from the beginning that they wanted the day to feel relaxed, fun and carefree — I believe the word “frolic” may have even made it into our conversations. 😂 And somehow, that really is what Monday felt like.

From walking down the aisle surrounded by the people who mean the most to them, to wandering around the beautiful old brick walls of Northwest Square together, these two were just so present with their favorite people.

Luke + Kelly, you’re married!! 🥂

TODAY’S THE DAY! 🤍 Luke + Kelly are getting married at Northwest Square in Deland!

And yes—Monday weddings are absolutely a thing here in Florida. 😉

Surrounded by the people who mean the most to them, Luke and Kelly want today to feel relaxed, fun, carefree… and I’m pretty sure Kelly even used the word frolic at one point. 😂

From a Lemonade Hour 🍋 to game stations at the reception, little nods to their theater days, and hints of the Regency Era and Pride & Prejudice woven throughout the day, this wedding is going to be 100% THEM.

And those are my favorite kinds of wedding days—the ones where you can see the couple’s personalities everywhere you look.

I can’t wait to share their sneak peeks in a few days! And I’ll be sharing some behind-the-scenes from today on my Stories whenever I get a chance to sneak onto my phone.

Before Asya married Vic, she had something she wanted to say to Sienna. 🤍

So before the ceremony, the two of them stepped outside together.

Asya had written her a letter.

She read it to her, gave her a special necklace, and somewhere in the middle of it all, there were tears and a long hug.

I loved watching Asya be so intentional about making sure Sienna knew that this day wasn’t only about her marrying her dad.

It was about becoming a family.

And THIS is why I love the moments that happen in between all the things written on the wedding-day timeline.

Sometimes they’re the whole story. 🤍

In my last post, I told you that you don’t need to know how to pose.
Exhibit A. 🤍

Sometimes I’ll get you laughing. Sometimes I’ll tuck you in close. And sometimes I’ll simply tell you to grab your person’s hand and take a walk with me.

Because when the sky looks like THIS, I’m backing wayyyyy up. 😍

I love the close-up photographs that show exactly how your wedding day felt, but I also want to give you a few that show the whole beautiful scene you got to experience it in.

God truly painted the sky and showed off for us this night. 🌴
