These two!! 🤍 Kelcey and Dawson were an absolute JOY to photograph!

Bare feet in the grass, spinning and twirling as the sun went down, and absolutely no hesitation to wander off the beaten path for a little adventure. These two were up for anything, and we had so much fun together!

Kind, easygoing, playful, and so genuinely sweet with each other. 100% my kind of people. 🥹

Just a few favorites from their engagement session at D Ranch Preserve, where the golden light and beautiful Florida landscape gave us a little extra magic. ✨

Sometimes the photos I love most aren’t the ones where everyone is looking at the camera.

They’re the ones where your kids are tucked into you. Where somebody is laughing. Where you can actually see what being together felt like in this season.

Because yes, I photograph a whole lot of weddings around here… but families still have a very big place in my heart. 🤍

5 things you may not know about your photographer ☀️

1. I’m a little obsessed with history.
If I could only teach my kids one subject, I think I’d choose history. I love that history is really just one giant collection of stories about PEOPLE—who they were, what they loved, what they did and what their lives looked like. Maybe that’s part of why I love photography so much too. I want to know people and tell their stories.

2. I grew up living for the beach.
I started my photography business in Upstate New York, which is absolutely beautiful in its own way—but apparently my photography heart belonged in Florida long before I did. 😂

3. My favorite colors are basically… this photograph.
Sunshine. Creamy neutrals. Soft blues and pinks. Big skies. Beautiful clouds. Ocean. Give me all of it. There’s a reason those colors and that light show up over and over again in my work.

4. I play keys on the worship team at my church.
Music has always been another creative outlet for me, but there is something especially beautiful about getting to use it to worship the Lord. It’s one of my favorite places to serve.

5. I’m a teacher at heart.
I’ve always loved teaching, and now I get to homeschool my kids—which is equal parts wonderful, chaotic and “WHY ARE WE STILL DOING MATH?” 😂 But getting to learn alongside them and watch things click is something I genuinely love.

And then sometimes all the pieces of what I love creatively end up in one photograph.

The ocean. The soft colors. The giant sky. The clouds. The wind in Yessy’s dress. That weathered sailboat. The tiny lighthouse in the distance. And two people right in the middle of it, with their own story unfolding.

This one feels so very me. And I am OBSESSED. 🤍

Someone asked me this recently after seeing so many weddings around here, and it made me laugh a little because YES — weddings may take up a whole lot of space in my camera roll, but photographing families is still one of my favorite parts of what I do.

Especially because family photos don’t need to mean perfectly behaved kids standing still and smiling at me.

Give me the snuggles. The running. The belly laughs. The kid who needs ten minutes to warm up. The toddler who absolutely has other plans. 😂

Because someday, this is the stuff you’re going to want back.

There’s something pretty incredible about getting married in the oldest city in America. 🤍

When Aaron + Aliana chose The White Room in downtown St. Augustine, they got a little bit of everything I love about this city—historic charm, waterfront views, old brick, cobblestone streets and that feeling that you’ve gone somewhere special for the weekend.

Their ceremony was on the rooftop terrace, under café lights with Matanzas Bay and the boats in the harbor just beyond them.

There is SO much within walking distance for portraits. We headed to the waterfront for photos with the Bridge of Lions behind them, wandered along the river and used the historic architecture surrounding the venue. Inside The White Room, the exposed brick, beautiful staircase and natural light gave us another look without even leaving the building.

If I photographed another wedding here, I’d love a little extra time to wander St. Augustine’s side streets and tucked-away corners. There are so many possibilities.

If you love history, waterfront views and the feeling of a destination getaway, The White Room is absolutely one to put on your venue list. 🤍

Come away with me. 🤍

They slipped away from their reception for a few sunset portraits on Cocoa Beach, and honestly, this photo feels exactly like their whole wedding day.

Shoes off. Bare feet in the sand. Wind in her hair. No worrying about the dress getting sandy. Just two people who genuinely love the beach and wanted to enjoy every bit of it.

Give me the windswept hair, sandy feet and carefree kind of love every time. 🤍

Savannah + Skylar drove all the way up from the Space Coast for their family session, and LOOK AT THIS LITTLE CREW. 🥹🤍

We had gorgeous light, two seriously adorable kiddos…and approximately 47 million lovebugs flying through the air. 😂 At one point I was pretty sure I needed windshield wipers for my face.

And somewhere in the middle of all of this, their little guy had a tough moment and needed a break.

So we took one.

No rushing him. No trying to convince him to smile for me. He got some time in the AC with Mom + Dad, and when he came back out, we just played.

We walked. We ran. We snuggled. Mom + Dad knew exactly how to bring out those giggles, and I followed his lead and captured it.

And THAT smile in those last few photos?! 🥹

Family pictures don’t require perfectly behaved kids. Sometimes they just require a little patience, a little play, and a whole lot of love from the people who know them best.

Savannah + Skylar, your sweet family was SO much fun to photograph. I hope these make you smile as much as they made me smile editing them. 🤍

Capture the way they look at you like you’re their whole world. 🤍

The forecast said 0% chance of rain. Florida said, “That’s cute.” 😂

After rescheduling Daniel + Yessy’s engagement session more times than any of us would like to count, we FINALLY made it out to Smyrna Dunes Park.

And then… thunder. 🤦‍♀️

We kept shooting through a few sprinkles, watched the wind start whipping through Yessy’s hair, and eventually realized that giant dark cloud behind us was, in fact, coming for us. 😂

But LOOK WHAT IT GAVE US.

Wind in her dress. Those stormy skies. Barefoot dancing in the sand. Daniel pulling her close. And some of my favorite images happened right as the weather was turning.

We may have ended the night completely soaked with a very wet 15-minute walk back to the cars, but Daniel + Yessy — you two were absolute TROOPERS. I cannot wait for your wedding. 🤍

P.S. There is an entire story involving a buried sausage and an attempt to keep the rain away. Clearly, the sausage failed us. 😂 Check my stories for that one.

Alli + Cam’s Whitewood Ranch wedding is officially on the blog! 🤍

Thunder, a few Florida sprinkles, private vows that required handkerchiefs, the sweetest moments with grandparents, gorgeous pastel florals, lots of laughter, a packed dance floor, and two people who were just so easy and fun to celebrate.

I’m sharing so much more from their day on the blog, along with a little peek at what a summer wedding at Whitewood Ranch can look like when Florida weather keeps us guessing. 😉
