This week was four different angles on the same question: what does prepared actually mean.

A bachelor's in chemistry. A master's in public administration, now a doctoral program at UCF. Two deployments as a combat medic, and a FEMA deployment as a hazard mitigation specialist after Ian, Nicole, and Idalia. Committees most voters never hear about, a nonprofit I helped start, years in a classroom, a stretch counting people for the Census. None of it happened because I was planning to run for office. It happened because I was building a life in this county, and it turned out to be the right preparation for this job.

District 5 votes November 3rd. If any of this week's posts told you something you didn't know, that's the point, decide who represents you based on the whole record, not a headline. Tell me which one mattered to you, ask the question I haven't answered yet, or come walk and talk with me.

Since everyone is commenting on the backpack event, here’s my two cents.

What I find funny—and honestly, frustrating—is how certain people want to exclude others and then, when they are challenged, essentially tell them to shut up.

You know what else saddens me? The fact that so many of the people in that event seem to police the poor while simultaneously taking from them.

Did you know that children in low-income families, whose parents need a little extra help putting food on the table and rely on food stamps, are apparently not even “worthy” of having sweets because the very people who claim to care about them continue to support politicians who cut assistance to struggling families?

Those same children they profess to care so deeply about—and I genuinely believe they sincerely do—need more than backpacks and occasional acts of charity.

Kindness should be given because you genuinely want to help—not so you can turn around later and throw that act of kindness in someone’s face, use it for recognition, or hold it over them as though they now owe you something. True kindness doesn’t come with conditions, political talking points, or a need for applause.

People like Emma and her crew may very well do kind things for these children, and that is certainly commendable. But it becomes difficult to ignore the hypocrisy when those in her same political party vote for political leaders and policies that continually punish the poor, while simultaneously blaming and shaming the parents of those children for working low-wage jobs.

If we truly care about children, then we should care about the circumstances their families are living in, too. We should want policies that actually help families survive—not just temporary gestures that make for a good photo.

I mean, someone has to do those low-wage jobs, right?

What are we doing here? Seriously, what are we doing? What a damn shame…. 😞

Is anyone else seeing exorbitant water bills in Deltona/Deltona water?

I bought my home almost 10 years ago and have a septic system so, my bills never exceeded $50 a month and last month I had to pay over $200 with immediate disconnect and reconnection fees. Paid and lost the window of time to seek an adjustment.

Then the new bill comes and it’s $441!!! No, we do not have a pool, no we don’t have a company, no we don’t have a leak and if I did have eany of those issue there is no need for my bill to be that high.

What more do entities want from us!!!!! Seriously! I work and work just as hard as anyone else but at this point I CANNOT AFFORD TO LIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

02.24.26 - PSA regarding the orange fullofsh*ticus state of the union address.

While he is up there making a spectacle of the unfortunate unaliving of people committed by just 1 demographic & clearly demonstrating their BLATANT RACISM, there are children in the good ol USA who have been unalived by mostly white males. With that said and because my comment isn’t regarding whataboutisms and more about there being bad in every demographic. For God’s sake we have a 34x felon and p**o in the White House with massive fluid cover ups happening today.

IF U ARE NOT SEEING THE RACISM, DISCRIMINATION AND ESPECIALLY THE P**O RING COVER UP OF HIGHLY INFLUENTIAL INDIVIDUALS IN THE USA AND COMING FROM THE REPUBLIKKKAN PARTY, U ARE PART OF THE PROBLEM! EITHER SNAP OUT OF IT OR MOVE OUT OF THE WAY!
