They Like It When a Trick Goes Wrong.

This is a cornerstone of my show. The very first trick in the whole show is my magic wand vanishing without anyone, including me, noticing. Because, for the story, it wasn’t supposed to happen yet. Something goes “wrong” in just about every routine in the show. The bottles are only supposed to switch, not multiply. I accidentally hit something while jabbing swords into April’s head box. I lose count of how many linking rings I’m working with. And don’t even get me started on how my show ends up in the circle square box.

You would think doing a magic trick “wrong” would somehow be easier, but it’s the exact opposite. The trick can’t just go wrong. It has to go wrong on purpose. Anybody can drop a deck of cards on the ground. That’s no magic; that’s gravity.

To make a trick look good, you have to be a good magician. To make a mistake look good, you have to be even better.
