Tucked into the grounds of a storybook estate, this secret garden ceremony felt like something out of a dream.

Lush, pastel blooms softened the stairs, winding through the garden arch and becoming a part of the already stunning estate landscaping—elegant, romantic, and naturally breathtaking.

Hi! I’m Lydia, the face behind Frances Floral Design. It’s been a while since I’ve done any sort of introduction here on Instagram so having these lovely branding photos by is a good reason to share a little about me:

In 2014 I began my journey in wedding floral design and have never looked back. With a deep love for flowers, refined design, and the art of celebrating, I find great joy in creating florals that elevate and bring beauty to life’s most cherished moments.

I believe we were created to create and my designs are rooted in the idea that beauty is a reflection of the Creator’s hand.

I am married to my best friend, Peter, who is my biggest support and joins me on every wedding day to help lug buckets or set mechanics.
I have the joy of being a mother to two precious children who are cute beyond words and fill my life with deep meaning.

I am highly motivated by beauty. Seeking it, creating it, enjoying it, sharing it... whether it be through floral design, setting a table, enjoying an art museum, gardening, crafting a specialty cocktail (never overlook the garnish!), or delighting in watching my little children dance and play. Beauty thrills my heart.

And because everyone wonders… Frances is my middle name ✨

I am beyond excited to announce this exciting fulfillment of a long term goal to update our branding and have a fully designed website... I’ve been working with the amazing to refine and create designs that reflect the heart of this brand—one rooted in beauty, grace, and the artful celebration of marriage.

Today, I’m thrilled to share the results of this project and the fresh new look that truly reflects all that Frances Floral Design is: timeless floral artistry, garden-inspired elegance, and a thoughtful client experience.
From the redesigned logo suite to the curated site pages and every graceful word in between, my new website is a space created to inspire, to educate, and to walk alongside clients as we design flowers for one of life’s most meaningful days.

How to elevate a stunning cake even more? Surround it with a lush floral meadow. Proof that adding an extra special moment with flowers is never a bad idea… I think this was one of the most commented on aspects of this lovely day!

Tulips are one of those flowers that are the epitome of springtime. And this special double variety, Pink Mist, is pure perfection 😍

How lucky am I to have a bucketful of these beauties for the first weekend of spring?!

A love letter to fritillaria and it being perfectly captured by . This lovely little early spring time flower is a favorite of mine but has a very short season. And I think it’s the scarcity that makes us love these flowers a bit extra…

But that scarcity can also bring stress and heartache. Read on for a little behind the scenes story… when planning for this shoot and seeing the color scheme I instantly knew the designs needed to include fritillaria. But here in the Midwest, unique flowers like this are not just hanging out at the wholesalers so we have to special order them in.
And getting this sweet blossom in my hands resulted in tears, stress, and a couple of sleepless nights due to a very delayed order (or rather never going to arrive order… along with over half the other flowers needed) and scrambling to find substitutes. I am beyond thankful for amazing sales reps who saved me that weekend, connections with many wholesalers, and the ability to fly in flowers from all over the country. Including the coveted fritillaria.

This is the behind the scenes work and last minutes logistics we florists provide and a part of what you are paying for when you hire us. We sometimes have to create flower magic out of thin air, showing up to your event making it gorgeous all the while bearing the stress of delayed orders, wrong flowers, late nights to make up for delays, dead product, van rental headaches, and who knows what else. We aren’t just charging for a bouquet of flowers, we are putting our heart and creative soul into creating these designs unique and special. And that involves more logistics than you probably ever imagined.

But the end result is worth it, at least I think. Especially when I get these images and I fall in love with frit all over again 🤍
