Luther College’s Music Department proudly supports five choirs, three orchestras, two bands, two jazz bands, and 600 student musicians!

At Luther College, our campus is alive with the sounds of five choirs, three orchestras, two bands, two jazz bands, and over 600 student musicians. Our student musicians actively participate in large ensembles, faculty-coached chamber groups, private lessons, master classes, and many other enriching opportunities. Over 160 music majors study music theory/ear training, history, education, compositi

ICYMI: The Luther College Concert Band is heading to Japan! 🎺

The Concert Band last toured Japan in 2010 under the late Fred Nyline, its longtime director, and this year’s trip builds on that history.

“When discussing locations, we decided returning to a country that the ensemble has traveled to in the past would be a great opportunity for our students, and also pay tribute to the years of history and planning this ensemble has with Japan.” - Cory Near, Assistant Professor of Music and Director of Bands
