Decatur's very own professional orchestra will be giving their first concert on November 22 at The Princess Theatre. They will be using The Columns as rehearsal space leading up to the concert. Let's welcome them warmly and make sure to support local arts and music by attending the concert and bringing our friends and family!

The Exhibition of Art by Mircea Lacatus is now over and we would like to thank those of you who took the time to come out and appreciate the beautiful works of sculpture and paintings by the Artist. Those of you who were unable to come missed out on a wonderful thing, but perhaps another opportunity will arrive at another time in the future. The Columns is pleased to be hosting Sculptor Mircea Lacatus in his North American Debut Exhibition April 26 - May 5. During this time The Columns will be open to the public 11:00- 7:00 monday-saturday, sunday from 2:00-5:00.
Mircea Lacatus arrived in Alabama Fall 2012 and is a Guest Artist on the Faculty of UAH. He has lived in Vienna, Austria for the past 22 years where he has had an active career as an Artist, with numerous personal exhibitions, artistic collaborations and invitations to Art Symposiums in countries such as Romania, Croatia, Hungary, Austria, Israel, India and Japan. His work is actively commissioned and collected by various private collectors in Europe.
This Exhibition will showcase sculptural works of marble, stone, clay and metal as well as paintings and drawings. All of the pieces in the Exhibition will be available for purchase.
Mircea Lacatus will be present at various times during the exhibition, giving the opportunity to not only see the Art, but meet the Artist as well. I encourage you to take a moment to enjoy this opportunity and visit this Exhibit at "The Columns".

It is a new year and there are things to celebrate. Sometimes the celebration is life itself..... that alone is cause for joy and gratitude.
We so enjoy being a place for celebration and if that even includes a little blue grass music like we had last night, then that makes it all the better! Life is sweet and it is sweeter when we share our days and moments with those we love and cherish as family and friends. I think this is a good year to see the blessings in life and be thankful that there is light in darkness if we choose to find it and let it shine.

Spring has sprung! The two Dogwoods are blooming beautifully in front of the house. It's my favorite time of year.

It's a New Year full of new possibilities! Looking forward to seeing all the different ways people meet and celebrate. We are having a pre-prom dinner party this Saturday for a group from Hartselle High. The parking will be limousined, the guys will be handsome and the girls will be beautiful. This is a first for The Columns, hopefully more new things will follow......the possibilities are endless.
