Blessed with another day doing what I love. We were in McKinney,Tx at one of my favorite events ever. El Dorado Chevrolet and The Guns and Hoses Foundation know how to host an event.
KP (Kevin Perry) has been promoting bbq for a long time. The dealership moves all the cars and we get to set up under the canopies. It’s a unique event for sure. They feed you and treat you like kings. The weather was all over the place but it was manageable.
As for the cookoff, 32-33 teams showed up to battle it out for a piece of the $9,400 purse. We were blessed with a 4th place chicken and 3rd place brisket. Ribs were a no show and that’s a head scratcher because I loved them. Oh well. We finished 4th overall.
I want to take a minute to say a huge thank you to Tim Esh (Tiny E BBQ) for all the help and guidance in chicken. Yard bird has always been my strongest category until this year. Things change and I have struggled mightily. But finally a break through after some recipe tweeking. I surely appreciate the help.
Congrats to all who got a call today and thanks to the crew in the judging area and all yall do for bbq.
As always, the bbq family is what it’s all about. Had a blast with everyone. See yall soon.
