Two of our board members here at The Barn at Kill Creek Farm had an opportunity to support the local De Soto community by delivering 90 packages of pork to the De Soto Kansas Food Pantry. We appreciate the pantry volunteers who helped us unload and stock the freezers.

Sixty young souls stepped into an enchanting evening at The Barn at Kill Creek Farm this past weekend—at a masquerade ball! Costumed guests learned ballroom dance moves amidst an evening of entertainment, including a sleight-of-hand magic show, a fashion runway, and a theatrical sword duel. This standout celebration is a reminder that you never know what surprises you’ll unmask at The Barn—where rustic charm sets the stage for unforgettable experiences.

This year, The Barn:

Purchased a hog from a local Johnson County Kansas 4-H Pioneer family—plus helping six talented young ag‑project students with their market animals.

Sent the hog to Steve's Meat Market for processing—directly supporting a hometown business.

Last year the organization donated 150 pounds of fresh/frozen pork to the De Soto Food Pantry, providing nutritious meals to families in need. We are planning to do that again!

That’s local youth empowerment, small-business support, and community food security—all in one cycle of community care. A true WIN‑WIN‑WIN!

Livestock and other animals are on display at the Johnson County Fair! The Barn at Kill Creek Farm was thrilled to showcase last year’s Grand Champion Bucket Calf winners at our yearly Fall Harvest Festival!

It’s so rewarding to see all the hard work the young people put into their projects. We’ll have more farm animals available for you to visit during the Fall Harvest Festival this year.

We had the awesome opportunity to host an American hero and fellow De Sotoan at The Barn at Kill Creek Farm yesterday—a stellar reminder of the FREEDOM we share this holiday weekend!

U.S. Army Sergeant Major Antonio Gonzales—a Pathfinder, Green Beret and Silver Star recipient—was honored for his service of nearly three decades, including three tours in Afghanistan, as well as service in Korea, Colombia, Honduras, and closer to home at Fort Leavenworth, KS. Thanks for your service, Tony! May we all remember that freedom is not free. Happy 4th of July!

It's been a lively season at The Barn at Kill Creek Farm! We've been honored to host graduation parties, family gatherings, and community nonprofit meetings—thank you to everyone who’s brought their celebrations and purpose to our space.

Most recently, we welcomed the Johnson County Kansas 4-H Dog Club as they got a head start on the fair season! Club members gathered to design and create their colorful banners—the ones you’ll see hanging above their dog pens at the Johnson County Fair later this summer. These young handlers are already preparing for the fair’s events, featuring grooming, obedience, and agility competitions. We love seeing their creativity and commitment in action!

At The Barn at Kill Creek Farm, spring is a season full of quiet beauty and new beginnings. Nestled beside a real, working farm that’s been in the Zimmerman family for over 80 years, our venue is surrounded by life in bloom. 🐦 🏵

All three of the bluebird boxes are home to nesting pairs this season. One mother bluebird even stayed protectively on her eggs as we gently checked her nest—a simple, powerful reminder of a mother’s love.

Happy Mother’s Day from The Barn at Kill Creek Farm to your family!

Tired of the same old boardroom backdrop? Bring your next corporate event to the edge of KC at The Barn at Kill Creek Farm . Last week we helped a local firm host a “denim and diamonds” bash—complete with awards, boots, bling, barbecue, cocktails, line dancing, and even a charity auction. The ice cream truck was the cherry on top.
