This Friday, there’s a nationwide call for a shutdown as people respond to the fear and uncertainty many families are living with right now. We deeply respect every person and business making the choice that feels right for them. Seeing what’s happening in Minnesota makes it clear how hard it can be to speak up, but staying silent when families are hurting and lives are at risk doesn’t feel like an option for us.

For us, this is deeply personal. We were born here, raised in Malaysia, and come from an immigrant family. Green Bay is home. It’s where we went to college, built our careers, raised our kids, and planted roots. It’s where we’ve lived, grown, and belonged for the past 18 years. The idea of living in fear of being separated from loved ones or not knowing what tomorrow brings is not abstract to us. It’s something we’ve seen, felt, and carried with us. When families are living in fear or uncertainty, it doesn’t feel distant. It feels close to our own lives and the people we love.

We know speaking up can feel scary, especially as a small business. When we first started our business, we were hesitant and nervous to share our food, our culture, and our story. But our community embraced us, supported us, and allowed us to cook in a way that celebrates where we come from while bringing people together.

Staying silent when people are hurting doesn’t feel right to us. We choose love. We choose togetherness, kindness, and community always.

This Friday, we’re pausing at noon to honor our community, reflect on what’s happening, and make space to show care for those around us. We are so grateful to be part of such a loving community. Thank you for standing with us, for supporting local, and for helping make this community one we are so proud to call home.
