Do you want to dive even deeper? Embark on an OceanX Education Live Q&A Session aboard the OceanXplorer!

OceanX Education will be hosting 3 live Zoom Q&A sessions from the OceanXplorer ship in September. These hour-long sessions will be hosted by Dr. AnnMarie Thomas, who has a background in ocean robotics and education, and a long history of involvement in FIRST®. During the sessions, we will take questions from participants and give a tour of a few locations on the ship.

The FIRST LEGO League SUBMERGED season, part of the 2024-2025 ocean-inspired robotics season, FIRST® DIVESM presented by Qualcomm, will challenge teams to use their STEM skills and creativity to explore the layers of the ocean and “sea” into the future.

Rounding out our team celebrations we have The Innovation Project Award!

These teams utilized diverse resources for their Project to help them gain a comprehensive understanding of the problem they identified, developed a creative, well-researched solution, and effectively communicated their findings to judges and the community.

2024 Florida Sunshine Invitational Innovation Project Winners:

*3rd Place- Menlo Park Narleaotters, California
*2nd Place- Assembly Required, Florida

The First-Place Innovation Project team had an insight on sight. When the world needs to make sense, this team has mastered scents. While every project was touching, this project revealed art by touch. Not all heroes wear capes, some wear masks! This team was Scent-sational.

The First-Place Innovation Project Award team is LEGO Maskers, Ohio.

Next up in our team celebration is The Robot Design Award!

The Robot Design Awards go to teams who use outstanding programming principles and solid engineering practices to develop a robot that is mechanically sound, durable, efficient, and highly capable of performing challenge missions.

2024 Florida Sunshine Invitational Robot Design Award Winners:

*3rd Place - DaVinci Coders, Minnesota
*2nd Place - Captain Ducks, Canada

The First-Place Robot Design team traveled to Daytona, a high-temperature zone - using signed design principles and coding. This team of rookie chefs cooked up successful augmented reality to win the Robot Design Award as the team can go on.... and on.... and on.... and on, forever....

The First-Place Robot Design Award team is Infinite Loop, Pennsylvania.

Let's all do the ROBOT and celebrate our Robot Performance Award!

Teams who scored the most points during the Robot Game.

2024 Florida Sunshine Robot Performance Award Winners:

*3rd Place with a score of 540 - RoboRangers, Republic of Moldova
*2nd Place with one perfect score of 550 - Mini Tonka+, Minnesota

The First-Place Robot Performance team complex robot took the lead. It completed each mission with impressive speed. This team celebrated each perfect run. It's clear by their FOUR perfect scores they had fun!

The First-Place Robot Performance Award winner is TSKY, Japan.

The Motivate Awards celebrates a team that embraces the culture of FIRST LEGO League through team building, team spirit and displayed enthusiasm.

2024 Florida Sunshine Invitational Motivate Award Winners:

*3rd Place - L.E.G.O. Wolves, California
*2nd Place - Beach Boys, Kansas

The First-Place Motivate musical team brought the energy, for sure. These reptilian robots made the judges roar. Quiet and boring, they were not.

The First-Place Motivate team is Dragonbots, Florida.

It's time to celebrate our Engineering Excellence Award winners!!!

The Engineering Excellence Award celebrates a team with an efficiently designed robot, an innovative project solution that effectively addresses the season challenge, and the Great Core Values evident in all they do.

2024 Florida Sunshine Invitational Engineering Excellence Award Winners:

*3rd Place - Legoborci z Oravy, Slovak Republic
*2nd Place - Robo Monkeys, Illinois

The First-Place Engineering Excellence team brought a strong connection to their culture. They had a unique approach to accomplishing the light-show mission while staying within the size constraints. Both their robot and project moved, turned, and danced their way to Engineering Excellence.

The First-Place Engineering Excellence team is Lego Musketari, Serbia.

Who's ready for more Awards??!!

As you all already know FIRST is truly More Than Robots! At the Florida Sunshine Invitational, we saw so many shining examples of the CORE VALUES in action! We are all thrilled and honored to be part of this amazing community! The First Core Values of Discovery, Innovation, Impact, Inclusion, Teamwork, and Fun shone bright with these teams.

We are excited to announce the Core Values Award. This award celebrates a team that displays extraordinary enthusiasm and spirit, knows they can accomplish more together than they could as individuals, and shows each other and other teams respect at all times!

2024 Florida Sunshine Invitational Core Value Award Winners:

*3rd Place - Masterminds, North Carolina
*2nd Place - Sumrall NanoBots, Mississippi

The First-Place team consisted of 10 members making major discoveries with eight new members to the First Lego League. They wowed their judges with team processes and table talks to solve problems, while celebrating their successes and having fun dancing in conga lines.

The First-Place Core Values team is ROBO-BOLTS, NW Florida.
