INTRODUCING LILY 🫶🏼

“ I moved to Charlotte last May for an internship with Elevation Church!

I lived in Charleston my whole life and after I graduated high school I decided to not to pursue college since I didn’t know what I wanted to do and didn’t want to waste time and money trying to figure it out. So after an attempt at a career in IT, which ultimately didn’t work out because I hated staring at a computer screen all day, a friend encouraged me to apply to the internship program for Elevation Church.
Flash forward I got accepted in, and moved to Charlotte for the next 3 months as an intern. Once it ended in August, I felt God asking me to stay in Charlotte and be planted with this church and serve in any capacity.

And I found Backdrop through a recommendation of a stranger! After coming in multiple times I just knew this place was so special and different than any other coffee shop I’ve been into. And I saw that they were hiring, I applied and I guess they liked me enough to hire me, cause here I am!

Something I really love about this place is the ownership. The team does such a great job of casting vision of what this place means and how we can help other people understand the same thing. How we go beyond just coffee, yeah our coffee’s freakin amazing, but it's the people & conversations behind it that make it special.”

Introducing: SOFIA 🎉

What brought you to Charlotte? What do you enjoy about living in and serving this community?
 
Hello! My name is Sofia! I am a native Pennsylvanian who moved down from my childhood home to Charlotte with my husband David after getting married in 2021. I have loved acclimating to the area and learning how to serve in a new and exciting setting that I am still unfamiliar with. When I moved down to Charlotte, I wasn’t sure what my new avenues of service would be. One answer to prayer was getting a job at the Atrium CMC hospital as a nurse, where I have come to love learning and best assisting patients and their families.  Another answer to prayer was getting the job at Backdrop Coffee, which provided me the opportunity to easily serve others through interactions over coffee. I love the family atmosphere of Backdrop Coffee, and the way in which we can invite people in to enjoy the riches of not only the coffee, but of the Lord Jesus. The Lord is so good with how He answers prayers and is always surprising me with His creativity and loving kindness. I feel very blessed to be a part of the Backdrop family crew and can’t wait to share them with you! See you soon!
