Quote of the season! Young man of 5 tells Mrs Claus that he thinks he’s on the naughty list. I asked if he wanted Santa to check again, and he said maybe 28 times!!

Mrs C here: Santa and I have seen and talked to hundreds of children this year and the toughest questions to answer are about their elves. Why can my elf be naughty when I have to be good? Why do I have to clean up the mess my elf made? We are both pre-elf and don’t understand how something that is supposed to prompt children to be good can cause such havoc. It appears to be more for the entertainment of the adults than guiding the children. What about sitting the elf next to a mug with slips of paper and a good deed of the day on each? Or a sign that asks them to clean their room or pick up toys for a candy cane? Or select toys that you don’t play with anymore for Santa to give to the poor? And it’s OK to tell them that the electronics and ATVs etc come from mom and dad. After all, Santa’s magic is toys, and Santa would not over gift one child and slight another. Tonight marks the 4th year greeting the children of the St Charles Methodist church in Destrehan. We love our visits!

Wonderful evening with new friends and fabulous food and drinks!

Tonight was amazing. We had over 40 kids with parents at the Hausse to see Santa. We had lots running, screaming ( in a good way), a few tears (let’s face it, Santa can sometimes be intimidating), hot chocolate, and fun. The kids loved taking over the restaurant and we loved letting them! We had so much fun! Alissa, Maddex, and I are dragging as we are cleaning up, but we are so happy with how the night turned out. It reminded me of our vision that we are a place for the community. If you came tonight please post pictures and tag us. I was too busy to take as many pictures as I would have liked.
