9 years ago, this sweet little girl came over and we did her one year cake smash photos in a small area of my house. I didnโ€™t have a studio back then and was just starting to move from video work into photography. Tonight, I get to celebrate her 10th birthday with her at a Portrait Party in my new studio. Someone recently asked where the idea for Portrait Play Dates came from, and here's the story: When my boys were little, we loved visiting mall play areas and indoor play structures. Sometimes, I'd dress them up and, if they were behaving, we'd head over to The Picture People. The best part? There was no sitting fee, and they did walk-ins, so Iโ€™d either walk out with a cute print or weโ€™d try again next time if it didnโ€™t go well. Once i made thr switch from videographer to photographer, it got me thinking, why not combine playtime with a chance to meet other parents in the area? And that's how Portrait Play Dates were born! I now open my studio for themed pop-in play dates where thereโ€™s zero pressure and no obligation to buy anything. But be warned, youโ€™ll definitely fall in love with how adorable your little one looks!
