The editing project, spanning three years and 5,000 hours of dedicated work, aimed to keep all the fun, bizarre moments that make the movie a cult classic but without the elements that might test the patience of modern audiences. Given that the original film celebrates its 60th anniversary, Diskes’ updated cut serves as both a tribute and a fresh way for viewers to enjoy this quirky holiday tale.
For those interested in catching this special re-edit, AndrewDiskes Productions has started screenings and has plans to expand next year. And if you can’t attend the School Vacation Screening, you’ll still have the option to rent this one-of-a-kind holiday hoot.
