There are some stories that hit a little closer to home. ❤️

I recently learned that a young man I have known since before he was even born is now facing brain cancer.

I had the honor of officiating his parents’ wedding years ago, long before they knew what the future would hold. And then, just this past school year, our paths crossed again in a way I didn’t realize at first.

He was a peer mentor for one of the special education classes I worked with. He joined us on two field trips, and I watched him make a genuine effort to make sure the students had a good time, feel included, and enjoy the experience. He was kind, patient, and willing to be there for them.

Sometimes we don’t realize how people touch our lives until we look back and connect the dots.

Now, this young man and his family are facing something no family should have to face. They have started a GoFundMe to help support them through this difficult time.

If you are able, please consider donating. If you aren’t able to give, sharing this post can help just as much. And please keep him and his family in your thoughts and prayers. ❤️

💍 Wedding Wednesday | Behind the Scenes

What does an officiant actually do before those few minutes standing at the front?

A little more than you might think! 😉

This was my behind-the-scenes setup for Samantha & Bounta’s beautiful Amber Room wedding—my ceremony script ready to go beside their card box. 📖💍

My ceremonies include the traditional words and elements couples recognize and love, with the option to add as much—or as little—of your personal love story as you’d like to share with me.

Because your ceremony can be traditional and personal. ❤️

And all that preparation happens so that when you’re standing at the front, you can simply focus on each other and the moment you’re saying, “I do.”

The rain tried to steal the show… but it didn’t get the last word. ☔️➡️☀️💍

Yesterday, I had the absolute pleasure of officiating the wedding of Samantha & Bounta at The Amber Room. ❤️

And let me tell you… about an hour before the ceremony, the skies decided to give us a serious downpour. 😂☔️

For a moment, we wondered what the weather had in store for us.

But then… the skies cleared. ✨

The amazing staff at The Amber Room quickly wiped down the chairs, everyone got into place, and we ended up with a beautiful outdoor ceremony. It was definitely humid, but hey—when you’re surrounded by love, family, and friends, you roll with it! 🥰

And then came one of my favorite surprises of the day.

During cocktail hour, I discovered that several of the couple’s friends remembered me from my days working at Hayestown—with a former student of mine from years ago. ❤️

There is something incredibly special about seeing someone you once knew as a kid all grown up, celebrating such a beautiful milestone.

Those unexpected full-circle moments are one of the reasons I absolutely love what I do.

I may be the person standing up front helping a couple say, “I do,” but I often walk away with so much more—a new memory, familiar faces, and another reminder of how beautifully connected our lives can be.

Congratulations, Samantha & Bounta! 💙
May your marriage be filled with love, laughter, friendship, and plenty of beautiful days ahead. 🥂💍

And yes… the rain was worth it. 😉

✨ Tomorrow begins forever. ✨

Tonight I had the joy of being at The Amber Room for a wedding rehearsal, and if this gorgeous ceremony space is any indication, tomorrow is going to be a beautiful one. 🤍

There’s something special about a rehearsal night—the excitement, the little details, the “okay, what happens next?” moments, and that realization that the big day is finally here. 💍

As an officiant, I love getting to be part of more than just the ceremony. I get to meet couples in the middle of all that anticipation and help make sure they feel ready to say those two very important words:

“I do.” ❤️

Congratulations to this sweet couple as they head into their wedding day! Wishing you both a lifetime of love, laughter, and adventures together.

Some weddings feel like coming home. 🤍

Last Sunday I had the honor of officiating the wedding of Morgan & James at the breathtaking Briarhouse Manor. 💍✨

This wedding was especially meaningful because Morgan’s mom, Tracy, and I go way back. We first met on a ski trip in junior high, and over the years our paths have crossed again and again—as coworkers, direct sales reps, and on camping trips. Life has a remarkable way of bringing people back together.

Standing beneath that beautiful floral arch with the Hudson River glowing behind us at sunset, I found myself reflecting on just how special this moment was. Years ago, I never could have imagined that one day I’d be officiating her daughter’s wedding.

That’s one of the things I love most about being a Justice of the Peace. You never know when a friendship from decades ago will turn into a front-row seat to one of life’s most meaningful milestones.

Morgan & James, it was a joy and an honor to celebrate your love story. Wishing you a lifetime of love, laughter, adventure, and plenty of full-circle moments of your own. 🤍

✨ Have you ever had one of those “small world” moments where life came full circle in an unexpected way? I’d love to hear your story!

Sweet couple. Blooming magnolia. Baby on the way. 🌸🍼

This May 11th wedding had ALL the good things — and mom and brother of the bride there to cheer them on made it even sweeter. So honored to be part of days like this. 🤍

53 years ago today, two people stood up and made a promise.
No viral moment. Just vows — and the decision, made over and over again for five decades, to keep them.
This is my parents, Karen and Cliff, on their wedding day. Watching them has shaped everything about why I do this work. When I stand with couples at the altar, I’m thinking about love like this — the kind that’s still going strong 53 years later.
Happy Anniversary, Mom and Dad. 🤍

Sometimes love looks like a circle arch in the living room, rose petals on the hardwood floor,a cat in the background and a dog in a bandana that says “my humans are getting married.” 🐾💍
Honored to officiate this intimate home ceremony today — just the two of them, their fur babies, and a whole lot of love.

Spring weddings at Tarrywile are something special. 🌿 Today I had the joy of officiating for a couple beginning their newest chapter together — and somewhere across the lawn, a quinceañera was busy with their own photo shoot. When they realized a wedding was happening nearby, they stopped, waited, and when I pronounced them married, erupted in cheers. Strangers becoming witnesses. Two families, two milestones, one beautiful afternoon. That’s the kind of day that reminds you why this work matters.
