Fun Fact: Cats originally started Meowing as a highly effective method of communication specifically for Humans. They rarely use it in communication with other species.
The frequencies of a Cat's Meow overlap with the frequencies of an Infant Crying. This not only elicits the same Human Instinct to Nurture and Care for them, their Meows are communicated in a manner Perceived by Humans as Pleasant Conversations, a stark contrast to the typical Unease and Discomfort the sound of a Crying Infant involves.
They Mastered Interspecies Manipulation so well and so long ago, that the Ancient Egyptian word for cat was the onomatopoeia "Miu" (Mew), where they were revered as Sacred or Divine and Protected by Law.
Their relationship with Humans dependent on Agriculture, living in Cities, or Sailing to survive was also a very mutually beneficial one; as their natural predator instincts results in them hunting and eliminating pests that threatened Crops or were Vectors for Infections Diseases.
Humans Survived and Thrived immensely as a result of their existence in our Families and Communities. This was proven when Pope Gregory IX (1227-1241) declared that cats "bore the Spirit of Satan" (specifically black cats) resulting in the mass killings of cats that continued for several centuries after.
It only took One Century for the consequences of that decision to make history. The rat population surged and the rats were able to survive being infected with the Bubonic Plague (unlike rabbits or cats), which allowed the Disease to Spread rampantly through the fleas they carried. This resulted in the Black Death Plague Epidemic in Europe with a 70-80% Mortality Rate. Within just 6 years (1346–1352) between 25 million and 200 million (depending on data source) people were ☠️ with numerous European regions losing anywhere from 30% to 60% of their population to the disease.
The Black Death Plague ☠️ed more people than any other event in history at the time, and remains one of Most Deadly Plagues in Human History. It took over 150 years for the Human Population to recover to Pre-Plague levels.
The Humans choosing to ☠️ the Cats, without realizing it, caused the ☠️ of their own Descendants (Grandchildren, Great-Grandchildren, etc) by subjecting them to the Deadly Threats Cats protected us from.
Cats may be Fluffy Balls of Death to Pests and those of us Allergic to Them, and they may definitely appear to be the Spawns of Satan at times; they, like many Witches, serve as Guardian Angels to those who Respect them 💖.
Which brings me back to Crows and other birds in the Corvid Family.
They are highly intelligent, capable of understanding and using tools, perform actual murder investigations to identify threats, are able to remember our faces, and are able to communicate to each other whether we, on an Individual level, are an ally or a threat to them; and have demonstrated they will give gifts and attempt to help or protect the humans they Love.
If the Corvids Meow at us, I recommend we feed and thank them 😜.
