About a week after a wedding, I received a very long email from the bride.
She outlined everything that went wrong —
and explained why I wouldn’t be reimbursed for a decision I made in real time to protect the event.
Some of what was listed were real breakdowns that should never have happened.
Some were expectations that were never clearly defined or communicated.
And some fell on me simply because I was the planner.
That email hurt.
But it taught me something I carry into every event now.
When roles aren’t clear, the person who steps up is often the one blamed.
*I learned this the hard way.*
So now, I ask questions early.
