We're back with the final part in our mini-series: what to do once engaged. In case you're joining us for the first time, here's a quick recap:

1. Enjoy your engagement
2. Consider the experience you want to have
3. Acknowledge the reality ($$$)

And part 4: Start looking at inspiration!

It will be helpful to have a broad idea of your wedding style before you pick your venue and start planning. Pinterest is a great place to find inspiration (but not make decisions), as are fashion magazines, event publications (Like PartySlate or Carots & Cake) and wedding publications that focus on the local area of where you'll get married, and even blog posts from local vendors (like ours! Link in bio πŸ‘€). Not only will you find great inspiration in design, but you'll see who the top vendors are, what their work looks like, and start getting an idea of who you want to hire.

And when that time comes, I hope you'll reach out to us! 🎊

Need any help breaking down our tips & how they can work for you? DM us . . . we want to hear your experience!

Time for this week's tip in our mini-series of what to do once you're engaged.

In case you missed it, you can look back in our profile for the last two tips:

Part 1: Enjoy your engagement
Part 2: Consider the experience you want to have

And today, part 3: acknowledge the reality.

Wedding planning can be stressful as-is, but it's extra stressful if you're not prepared. Once your engaged, let these questions guide your planning experience:

1. What else will be happening in your life that could affect the time you have for wedding planning? (post-grad education, family responsibilities, buying a house, etc). If you have a lot going on, it will be helpful to set a wedding date further into the future.

2. How will you be paying for your wedding experience? Consider your own personal stakeholders and who might be contributing. This is the time to have those conversations, as uncomfortable as they may be. Make sure it’s clear who has decision-making power, and what the expectations are on spending that money. This will also help build your own savings goal, and guide you in how long you will need to save.

3. Do you want to hire a planning team? If you know you're going to hate event planning, it's at least worth considering. Remember, you want to enjoy your engagement, not dread this entire period of your life.Β

This'll tie into last week's tip, also; if you LOVE being the center of attention & want to throw the biggest celebration your friends have ever seen, then you're gonna need to save some big bucks for it. But, if you're wanting something more intimate, or maybe even want to elope, a smaller budget is perfectly doable.

What's a controversial topic in the wedding world but shouldn't be? Wedding traditions.

You know what I'm talking about . . . the bouquet and garter toss, the cheesy wedding party intros, being expected to readincredibly personal vows in front of everyone you know and love, the parent dances . . . the list goes on.

Is anything wrong with these traditions? Well, no - for the most part (although we might argue against the bride being given away for the sake of being "given away"). But are they wedding requirements? Absolutely not!

So hear us out . . . if there are any wedding traditions or "expectations" that don't feel right to you, then don't do them! It's *your* day, and you shouldn't feel pressured to do anything just for the sake of tradition. Be intentional in your planning, and create a wedding that's reflective of you and your love; it'll be & feel dreamier than any other way you could have done it. And if anyone gets angry about it, then just blame us, your wedding planner πŸ˜‰

We're back with our mini-series of tips for once you're engaged.

Last week was Part 1: Enjoy your engagement.

This week's tip? Consider the experience you want to have.

And we mean, from start to finish. Some people love wedding planning, others just want to pick the colors & do the traditions. Some people want the formal pageantry, others want a low-key, intimate experience. Ask yourself these questions:
1. Do you enjoy being the center of attention?
2. What traditions & cultural elements are important to you?
3. In your personal life, do you like to plan gatherings or trips? Or do you prefer to experience it without being the decision-maker?
4. What does a romantic experience look like for you?
5. Are you hosting this wedding just for you & your future spouse, or for your family?

This will give you a starting point to strategize how you want to tackle wedding planning, and help reel in your ideas by reminding you what's most important to you. It can help you decide between eloping or hosting a traditional ceremony & reception, or even how to decide which traditions work for you.

Another engagement season has come & gone, and I'm sure there are tons of newly engaged couples out there wondering what to do next. So, join us for the next 4 Thursdays as we break it down.

Starting with Part 1: Enjoy your engagement!

As simple as it sounds, this will be the most important piece of wedding planning advice that I can give you. You have probably talked about your wedding before even becoming engaged, and that is fabulous. But just because you're wearing that ring doesn't mean you have to start rushing into it & making decisions all at once. Your engagement will be unlike any other period of your life. You deserve to bask in the goodness, in the romance, in the bursting pops of excitement - before the wedding planning stress kicks in.

So go ahead and be that couple - with as many lovey dovey moments as you can fit. Daydream about the exquisite moments of walking down the aisle or swaying to your first dance. Keep remembering why you're getting married. Because once the planning starts, it can be easy for the stress to take over & leave you wondering why you didn't stay in that engagement-bliss. So stay in it, while you consider what you want your wedding to look like ✨

A little late on this Women's Day, but feeling grateful for the women on our team who make the magic happen.

Margaret has been here since the very beginning - before Fete & Festoon even existed & I was freelancing. She is our go-to bout girl & takes care of our clients like nobody else. Kelly has been in my life since we were kids & was a quick learner when she offered to help - and now we can't do it without her!

There have been so many ladies in our world who have helped make the magic happen - we just happen to have photos of these two, shot by , who is another rockstar asset to our team. May we all be as strong, dedicated, uplifting & gracious as these ladies are.
