The Crocus! Did you know!?

🌱 Crocuses are part of the Iris family (Iridaceae)!
🌸 There are about 100 species of perennials growing from corms which include the Crocus!
🍃 Crocuses are not native to Canada!
🌞 The only Crocus native to Canada is technically not a Crocus! The native Prairie Crocus belongs to the buttercup family (Ranunculaceae)!

From April 29th to May 2nd, hundreds of cities across the world will take part in a friendly competition to see who can upload the most observations on iNaturalist.
