Here come the dahlias. I would just like to say that I have two different plots and I realize there are a few different variables as to why one is doing better than the other. Both were planted at the same time, but these were grown on a slope, downhill from the duck run, and get afternoon sun with morning and evening shade. The flat, full sun plot is taking a bit more time to bloom. Soil health and other variables come into play, but most would say not to grow on a slope where a black walnut used to be. Growing is the great experiment. Try something new and if it doesn’t work-do something different the next year.

This was shortly after Flora escaped her fence. She was quite proud of herself, but after a little bit of persuasion (and snacky snacks)-she decided to rejoin her crew. There’s never a dull moment around here.
