It’s been a long time since I’ve been struck by inspiration, but as of literally 3 minutes ago, it finally happened.

I will be making another Serenity gown, but THIS TIME there’s going to be a surprise!twist. This one is particularly exciting because I will be learning new construction techniques and breaking out of my comfort zone. Again.

I love learning new things, you guys. I’m mind hungry. My brain box often has insatiable cravings.

My new job!

Right up my alley, MUCH easier on my back, and…very loud. 😂

Industrial sewing is quite interesting. I was worried that it would feel monotonous, but there’s enough parts for enough orders that I’m always doing different stuff every single day.

I finally broke out of retail, have a consistent day-to-day schedule, and my weekends are ALL MINE!!!

Another commission complete! I will be taking a break from commissions for a bit to catch upon some personal projects (mostly repairs for family - you know how it is).

I achieved a color shifting effect by layering purple organza beneath this gorgeous navy constellation netting I found. I think it looks pretty awesome and I am absolutely in LOVE with the constellations. How many constellations can you name?

Ok this seals the deal. From now on, I’m sewing all zippers in by hand because it ALWAYS looks better. They only way you can tell that the zipper isn’t yellow is the pull. Sweet!!

Let’s talk about life goals for a second.

I would like to make this dress for someone (or anything from Phantom of the Opera, really). The reason may not be what you’d think. I would like to work in theater production and since I don’t have a degree, I need to make a sizable and detailed portfolio of my work. This means I need to make more than Sailor Moon costumes, although I will be including that in my portfolio as well.

I chose Phantom because I have been a huge fan since I was very, very young. I feel the need to include something from a stage production and what better than Phantom?

Long story short, I need an interested person who wants one of these costumes. Because of the circumstances, I will only charge for the cost of materials. Please understand, however, that this project will not be a fast turnaround. I want to take my time so that I can replicate this very detailed work.
