IMPORTANT U.P. STATE FAIR ENTERTAINMENT UPDATE

Due to unforeseen circumstances, Tia Wood will be unable to perform as scheduled Thursday evening at the U.P. State Fair. We appreciate everyone’s understanding and wish her all the best.

We are excited to announce that award-winning Indigenous artist Sebastian Gaskin will join the Honored Citizens Day lineup and perform at 8:00 p.m.

A Cree singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Tataskweyak Cree Nation in Manitoba, Gaskin brings a distinctive sound blending R&B and soul with elements of pop, rock and hip-hop. The 2025 JUNO Award winner for Contemporary Indigenous Artist of the Year has earned recognition for his powerful vocals, songwriting and contemporary approach to Indigenous music.

Thursday’s Honored Citizens Day will continue with a full day of activities, entertainment and opportunities to celebrate Native American culture and heritage.

The evening’s Grandstand celebration, sponsored by the Hannahville Indian Community and Island Resort & Casino, begins with gates opening at 6:30 p.m.

At 7:00 p.m., Woodland Sky Dance Company takes the stage. Based in Michigan, the acclaimed dance company shares Native American traditions through powerful performances blending storytelling, music and dance. Their presentation offers audiences an engaging look at the customs, history and spirit of Indigenous communities.

Then at 8:00 p.m., Sebastian Gaskin takes the stage to cap off the evening’s Grandstand entertainment.

Honored Citizens Day also features special admission of $5 for Native Americans, $3 for youth, and FREE admission for veterans with ID, along with activities and entertainment throughout the fairgrounds.

Whether attending to learn more about Native American culture, enjoy live entertainment, or celebrate the diverse traditions that make the Upper Peninsula unique, Honored Citizens Day at the U.P. State Fair promises a memorable day of culture, community and entertainment.
