Joe Marcinek, founder of the Joe Marcinek Band has performed for former president Bill Clinton's Clinton Global Initiative at the Field Museum in Chicago. This Sunday at the Region Ale Sunday Afternoon Jazz Jam from 1-4 PM 🎶

Kirk Garrison is a veteran of the Chicago jazz scene and has been a member of actor Gary Sinise’s Lt. Dan Band since 2005. He served in the United States Air Force Band (’83-’92) and completed his masters degree in Jazz Studies at DePaul University. Kirk is a member of the jazz faculty at Concordia University Chicago and Elmhurst College. He is in high demand as a performer, composer, teacher and orchestrator.

Performance credits include; Tony Bennett, Dave Brubeck, Bill Champlin, Lady Gaga, Aretha Franklin, Marvin Hamlisch, Herbie Hancock, Bob Hope, Johnny Mathis, Rita Moreno, Don Rickles, Danny Seraphine, Frank Sinatra, Jr., Joe Williams, and Nancy Wilson.

Kirk also performs as a guest soloist and clinician/adjudicator at middle schools, high schools and colleges throughout the country. He is a Schilke artist and plays their B5, S32HD trumpets and flugelhorn. He uses Denis Wick precision mutes and mouthpieces and is a Denis Wick performing artist. He also endorses AMT microphones and uses the AMT P800W

She's back! Marilyn Gaza has been performing around the Chicagoland area for decades, bringing 50's style swing and jazz to new audiences every week. She studied at the Old Town School of Folk Music, and has performed at many staple clubs and venues such as the old Grapevine, the Chicago Cultural Center and the the Charleston.

This Sunday at the Region Ale Sunday Afternoon Jazz Jam from 1-4 we have a double header for Mother Day!

Renee MilesFoster began singing at an early age. Influenced by her parents lovingly sharing their radio and albums with jazz music of which they both enjoyed and collected. Showcasing prolific American jazz giants of the 40’s, 50’s, and 60’s.

Renee' absorbed the wonderful artistry of Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, Mahalia Jackson, Johnny Hartman and Billy Holiday to name just a few! Family and friends encouraged her studies in music and the arts. After graduation she enrolled at Indiana University Northwest Campus and later transferred to Indiana University Bloomington, Indiana Campus. Mrs. Miles-Foster was awarded a scholarship from the African-American Studies Department allowing her to further her studies in gospel and spiritual music at Atlanta University in Atlanta, Georgia with the renowned Dr. Wendell Whalum. Renee's vocal techniques were polished under the tutelage of Eva Brooks cherished mentor and confidante, Donald Thompson, Raleigh Williams, Ralph Klapis and Earline Owens.

Billy Foster is a respected pianist, composer, educator, producer and host of the "Billy Foster Jazz Zone". As an active professional musician for the past 35 years, he has performed across the U.S. with others, as well as with his own groups. Mr. Foster has written and produced recordings with both “Billy Foster And Audio” and the “Billy Foster Trio”. He is a featured soloist on two of guitarist Henry Johnson’s CD’s on MCA Records. His work as pianist and composer with the “Valparaiso University Faculty Jazz Trio” can be heard on the CDs "For The Moment" and the 2010 recording "Journey". "Portrait "by the “Billy Foster Trio” features more of his compositions in addition to vocals by Renee MilesFoster. Mr. Foster has also written and produced music for several television commercials.

Over the years Foster has played concerts with such luminaries as Art Farmer, James Moody, Slide Hampton, Jimmy Heath, Ernie Watts, Tom Harrell, Red Rodney, Jon Faddis, George Coleman, Bobby Watson and many others.

The ”Billy Foster Jazz Zone” airs each Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 11:00AM - 1:00 PM on WGVE 88.7FM in Gary, In.

This Sunday at the weekly Region Ale Jazz Brunch from 1-4 we’re doin Latin Jazz for Cinco De Mayo!

Trumpeter, bandleader, educator, composer, Fred Cantu is one of the busiest trumpet players on the music scene today. Lead trumpet with the Buddy Rich Big band, Fred also performs as a regular member of Grammy nominated Cuban jazz pianist Chuchito Valdes’ Ensemble performing major jazz festivals around the country. He also tours worldwide with the Elvis Tribute Tour for Elvis Presley Enterprises. Fred’s trumpet playing can be heard and seen every Sunday on WGN’s TV show Singsation, which reaches over a million viewers each week. His trumpet can also be heard on many recordings from Chicago, New York, and Las Vegas. In addition, Fred leads his own 13 piece Big Band (The Fred Cantu Big Band) which performs regularly around the Chicagoland area. Fred continues to perform a vigorous schedule that includes guest artist appearances, clinics, recording sessions, touring, and shows around his native Chicagoland area. As a trumpeter and vocalist Fred has been a featured artist at the Chicago Jazz Fest, Viva Chicago, Telluride Jazz Fest, Aspen Snow Mass Fest, Detroit Jazz Fest, and Sangria Fest. Fred released his second album M.F.G. in 2021

With seamless ex*****on, Lauren Dukes delivers a wide variety of genres from Soul, Opera, & everything in between. Like many of her favorite singers, she started in church at age 5. By 10, she was singing with the Chicago Children's Choir. In college, Lauren enjoyed a brief stint in theater, then set her sights on being a lead singer. She is currently the female lead of the acclaimed Chicago-based cover band Spoken Four (spin-off of the popular cover band Maggie Speaks).

From his humble Toledo, Ohio beginnings as a punk rockin’ kid, ascent to bonafide guitar hero with a plethora of albums under his belt, sideman to rock royalty and session ace, all with his impressive list of credentials as guitarist-songwriter-producer-to-the-stars, Jeff Kollman, has done it all. Kollman is best known for his heavy, melodic electric guitar playing, fusing elements of Jazz harmony and creating his own brand of Rock.

With 18 band and solo releases on his label Marmaduke records formed in 1987, Jeff Kollman quietly cultivated a worldwide fanbase with his dynamic, yet ferocious guitar style. Jude Gold of Guitar Player Magazine says “Kollman is the musical equivalent of an acetylene torch!”

This Sunday at the Region Ale Sunday Jazz Brunch from 1-4 pm...

Graduate of Indiana State University in music education, multi-instrumentalist Alex Akers is an active professional musician, band director, composer, and producer. Influenced by a diverse array of musical styles, Akers has performed in a variety of settings, including classical, jazz, latin, hip-hop, soul, funk, R&B, rock, electronic, fusion, blues, world, and folk.

His versatile musicianship has led him to tour and study music internationally. His eclectic performing repertoire includes casino productions, musicals, hip hop productions, jazz recitals, and touring China with musical, “Rhapsody in Swing.” He studied traditional Chinese music at the Central Conservatory of China in Beijing, and has toured the US several times with the Jefferson Street Parade Band and Caught On Cline.

Caught On Cline is currently working on their fourth album and he just released his debut solo album! He has opened for rap artists Twista and Gorilla Zoe, classic rock band, Boston, and has recently been opening for the legendary Delvon Lamarr Organ Trio in Detroit, Nashville, and Indianapolis. He is currently teaching the rock band, electronic music, piano, and guitar curricula at Hammond Central High School.

Guitarist Marco Villarreal began his music career performing live at the age of 16. Born in Gary Indiana, he was exposed to music early on by his older siblings. Through the years he has collaborated and performed with a wide range of artists and groups including Freek Johnson, Lita Ford, Ron Keel, Tony Franklin, Frank Russell, Henry Johnson, Robert Irving III and the Sonic Portraits Orchestra, Miles Electric Band, Vince Wilburn Jr, Darryl Jones, Munyungo Jackson, Keyon Harrold, Antoine Roney, DJ Logic, Abbos Kosimov, Fareed Haque and many other notable musicians.

His solo recording “Ethereal” featuring virtuoso drummer Tony Austin (Kamasi Washington), iconic bassist Tony Franklin(The Firm, Blue Murder, Whitesnake) showcases his unique style of composition and improvisation.
He also performs in a solo context incorporating a balanced mix of loops and fingerstyle arrangements of classic Pop, Jazz, Rock and Classical pieces. In 2007 he was featured in Guitar Player magazine were his playing is described as “very beguiling and beautiful.”

He starting his teaching career in 1990 and continues to be a sought after teacher. Many of his students have successful careers in the music industry. Through the years some of his teachers include Scott Henderson, Jennifer Batten, Fareed Haque, Mick Goodrick and Pat Martino.
