🔥Needle Rock is a dramatic volcanic spire and rises nearly 800 feet above the valley floor! 🪨Once the throat of an ancient volcano, Needle Rock is all that remains after millions of years of erosion wore away the softer rock surrounding it.
🌋 It's not just a geological wonder — it's a beloved landmark in the North Fork Valley.
📍 The 0.8 mile long out-and-back trail provides access to the base of the monolith for hiking, with scenic views of the Gunnison River Valley and the West Elk Mountains.
