There’s something about those first days that feels like time both stands still… and disappears all at once.
My husband and I took a 3 hour trek to meet our friend’s sweet baby girl, and the entire time I kept thinking about how wild and tender this season is. The blurry days. The quiet moments. The “is it morning or night?” energy. The way your whole world shifts overnight.
New motherhood isn’t polished. It’s not perfectly wrapped or neatly posed. It’s messy buns, tired eyes, tiny stretches, milk-drunk snuggles, and a love that feels too big for your chest.
And that’s exactly why I photograph it the way I do.
My approach to newborn sessions is very “fly on the wall.” I’m not here to overly pose or interrupt what’s naturally unfolding. I’m here to document it—the real moments. The way you instinctively sway. The way they curl into you like they’ve always known you (because they have). The way your home holds all these brand new memories.
Because this stage? It’s gone before you even realize it.
One day you’re in the thick of it—running on coffee, cuddles, and maybe two hours of sleep—and the next, you’re wondering how they got so big.
These are the moments you’ll want to remember.
Not just how it looked…
…but how it felt.
And I promise—years from now, you won’t be thinking about whether the house was clean or your hair was done. You’ll just be so grateful you can step back into these days, even just for a moment.
(And hey… if you did brush your hair that day, we’ll absolutely document that too because that’s a major win in newborn life.)
Welcome to the world, sweet little Olive. You are already so, so loved!
And thank you to and for inviting us into your newborn bubble for a moment!
