A farm-to-table event hopes to not only bring locally-harvested food to diners in Covington, but it also aims to make dreams come true for a teen with a life-threatening illness.

Here is a little about a special fundraiser That we have been very busy planning. The Barn House in Covington will host Make A Wish and it’s first fundraiser on the Northshore Sunday, April 17th with a FARM to TABLE dinner. The owners, Lisa and Gus Flair, are no strangers to Make A Wish, having fundraised for them for more than 10 years in Belle Chasse before moving to the Northshore 18 months ago.

Make A Wish grants wishes to children with life-threatening illness, giving them hope and joy, making memories to last a lifetime. Make A Wish allows children to dream…to wish to go anywhere, be anything, meet anyone, do anything. If it’s possible, Make A Wish makes it happen! Years ago, Make A Wish choose to take out the words “terminally ill” from their vocabulary, choosing instead to instill hope and inspiration in the lives of their wish children and their families. What a difference that one little change has made.

Meet Caroline. She’s our special wish child from the Northshore who will have her wish granted through the generosity of those attending the Farm to Table Dinner at the Barn House. She is an amazing 17 year student from Mandeville who dreams of walking the streets of Paris listening to the street musicians, spending the day at the Louvre soaking in the art! She hopes her doctor will soon allow her to travel. Her quest to go to Paris has kept her focused on getting well.
