So proud of what Breeze has accomplished so far.

Well hello hundreds of new people! I’ve never been the subject of a viral or even sudo viral post before now so I figured it was high time I reintroduced myself, the business and let you all know what makes Breeze so special!

So, first of all, hi everyone and happy Wednesday! My name is Brie (yes, like the cheese) and I own Breeze Bakery, currently located in the absolutely beautiful run by

I started as a savory chef for over 15 years before turning my attention over to the baking side of the industry! I am an avid weightlifter, experience seeker, horticulturalist and dog agility lover with my two corgis. I’ve been married to my best friend and adventure companion Erik for over two years with a lifetime to go

Breeze “opened” in 2020 to family and friends to fulfill the ever present need for more availability of desserts for the holidays since so many places were closed, had limited pick ups and if I’m being honest, I had just started my life over and had an outlandish amount of free time on my hands.

The idea of “Breeze” formed when I was 18, fresh in culinary school. While the idea of it was a little different then, I’ve always knew I wanted to do this, I just never knew exactly what it would look like.

Well, what does it look it? Almost 2 years in full time business, procuring from over 100 local farmers and producers, bringing you the most fun assortment we can with new hyper seasonal menus coming your way every Tuesday for the week ahead.

📍Where can you find us?

You can place orders year round on our website at www.breezebellevue.com, find us at the Bellevue Farmers Market every Saturday starting May 30th as well as the Downtown Omaha Farmers Market and Aksarben about 50% of the time this season.

You can also regularly find us stocked up at our vendor partners in addition to pop ups at

We are so happy you’ve come along on this journey with us and we can’t wait to bake for you ❤️

Our ecosystem is alive!

We are incredibly excited to see more culinary students gaining exposure to a real-world commercial kitchen filled with active food businesses, entrepreneurs, and day-to-day operations. This kind of hands-on visibility creates an invaluable bridge between culinary education and actual business launch.

A dynamic ecosystem is emerging that is helping change the culture in Council Bluffs, and we could not be more grateful to the many members, partners, organizations, and supporters contributing to that momentum.

Last week we hosted our very first culinary class at Kitchen Council inside the PACE Building! Our incredible instructor brought the New York Steakhouse experience right here to Council Bluffs, teaching this packed class how to cook a full menu.

And this is just the beginning! More classes are coming, and spots fill up fast, so watch our schedule to see what's on the menu next! Click here to register online: https://www.iwcc.edu/ce/life-leisure/cooking-culinary/

🍋‍🟩Kitchen Council started as an incubator.
Over the past year, it has become so much more.

What’s happening now is bigger than shared kitchen space.
• Food businesses are growing here.
• Partnerships are forming here.
• Culinary students are connecting with industry here.
• Regional organizations are collaborating here.

Most importantly, people are beginning to see Council Bluffs as an essential part of a larger ecosystem where culture — art, food, and community — is bubbling up on the other side of the river.

This momentum has been incredibly encouraging to witness, and I’m deeply grateful for the many members, partners, funders, and organizations helping continue what we started nearly a decade ago.

Kitchen Council is now accepting food truck partners as we work to cultivate an emerging food truck scene here in Council Bluffs.

Thanks for helping spread the word. 📣

We’re proud to celebrate Small Business Development Center -SBDC at Iowa Western and especially Joshua Baker for receiving a well-deserved Letter of Appreciation.

The Small Business Development Center at Iowa Western has been an integral part of helping execute KC 2.0 alongside Kitchen Council. From regular office hours, one-on-one advising and operational guidance to helping entrepreneurs navigate the realities of growth, Josh has consistently shown up for our members in meaningful ways—including teaching our Food Startup 101 (Q2 class is open for signups!).

That support is huge. It allows food entrepreneurs to spend less time overwhelmed by the business side of things and more time focused on refining products, serving customers, and building sustainable companies.

We’re grateful for SBDC-IA’s partnership, the consistency, and the belief in local food entrepreneurship. Well deserved, Josh. 💜

Love that this is happening.

Public markets create space for local food, small business growth, first-time entrepreneurs, and the kind of community connection you simply can’t manufacture.

Kitchen Council is glad to help share that The RiverFront Market in downtown Omaha is officially hiring its founding Executive Director.

This is a rare opportunity to help build a year-round indoor public market from the ground up—a place designed to expand access to fresh, affordable food while creating real opportunity for local producers, makers, and food entrepreneurs across our region.

Tentatively planned to open in 2028, The RiverFront Market is meant to be both an economic development engine and a true community gathering space.

The right leader for this role will understand that markets are more than buildings—they are ecosystems. Vendor success, food access, hospitality, operations, fundraising, partnerships, and long-term sustainability all matter.

If that sounds like you—or someone you know—I’d encourage you to take a serious look.

Salary range: $150K–$175K
Applications close May 11
