CRAFTFEST COTUIT: Silent Auction Call for Artists !
New this year, Craftfest is partnering with the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe to celebrate the legend of “The Full Circle” Moons and Turtle Island for our silent auction.
Turtle Island is more commonly known as North America in their culture. While variations exist the legend usually involves a great flood after which turtles offer their backs to recreate the world along with the muskrat. Turtles have thirteen segments on their top shell and twenty eight ridges surrounding it. This aligns with the thirteen moon calendar. Artist choosing to participate will create their artwork from one of the thirteen moons. More detailed information will be provided to each artist wishing to participate.
The artwork will be displayed in Hamilton Hall during CRAFTFEST and visitors can bid on their favorite turtle. Proceeds will be divided between the artist and the Wampanoag tribe. If you have questions regarding the artwork please contact Judy Eide at ( [email protected] )
Artwork and all information are available for pickup at The Cotuit Federated church
