Prof. Travis Evans is the composer, of the work "Release." He will give a pre-concert lecture about this work on the SCCSO concert, May 4.
Travis Evans (b. 1977) is an Adjunct Faculty member at St. Charles Community College where he teaches courses in music, organ and piano. He is also on the faculty at the University of Missouri - St. Louis as a Piano Specialist in the music department, and an Adjunct Faculty member at Lindenwood University where he teaches Music Theory. He is currently serving on a grant advisory panel for the Missouri Arts Council. In addition to his academic work he is also the organist/accompanist at St. John UCC in St. Charles. Prior to joining the staff at St. John he was Director of Music for eighteen years for Lutheran Churches in the St. Louis area. He spent two seasons as the Artistic Director for the Choral Art Singers in St. Charles County. He has studied choral conducting with Dr. James Henry, conductor of the Ambassadors of Harmony and head of the choral department at the University of Missouri - St. Louis, instrumental conducting with Dr. Paul Davis at Webster, and organ with Dr. Charles Ore, the late Dr. Theodore Beck, Dr. John Romeri, and Dr. Barbara Harbach. He studied composition with Dr. Harbach while a student at UM-SL. He holds the Bachelor of Music in Organ Performance from the University of Missouri - St. Louis, and a Masters of Music in Organ Performance from Webster University in St. Louis where he studied with William Partridge, Canon Precentor at Christ Church Cathedral in St. Louis.
