With local bear activity on the rise, our furry neighbors are out foraging—and your trash can looks like a five-star buffet!
While we’re proud to have a bear representing Bruin Waste, we prefer the real ones stay safely in the wild. If a bear gets into your can and damages it, please remember that repairs and replacements take time, especially during peak seasons when we see a high volume of requests.
Help us keep wildlife wild and your neighborhood clean with these quick tips:
Latch It Tight: If you already have a locking cart, ensure both latches/clips are fully engaged between pickups.
Secure Storage: Store trash cans inside a secure garage, shed, or enclosure until collection morning.
Reduce Odors: Double-bag pungent food scraps or freeze smelly items until pickup day to keep curious noses away.
Clean Cans: Regularly wash and sanitize your bins with bleach or ammonia solutions to eliminate food scents.
