2:00 PM 8/28/2026 - Fire is now at 100% Containment at 50.8 Acres. Units are being allowed to clear at this time. One VFD member was transported to Navarro Regional Hospital for observation of heat related illness.

1:35 PM 8/28/2026 UPDATE - Fire is now 85% contained with forward progress stopped. There are 25 fire apparatus units from multiple agencies, Precinct 1 and Precinct 2 County Commissioners with 2 maintainers, one private dozer, NCSO, NCOEM, TDEM, and Red Cross are all on scene. No injuries have been reported thus far. We are working to calculate acreage at this time.

12:23 PM 8/28/2026 UPDATE - Fire is now estimated over 100 acres according to on scene command.

11:55 AM 8/28/2026 - Large grass fire in progress near Roane on NE 0190 with numerous fire departments on scene and in route. Two structures and vehicles also involved. OEM Personnel are in route as well. Fire size is estimated 25-30 acres at this time. Please avoid the area if possible.
