New England Vintage Base Ball Festival New England Vintage Base Ball Festival in Cornish Maine

The Dirigo Base Ball Club of Maine is happy to announce the third annual New England Vintage Base Ball Festival on June 23th and 24th at the Agricultural Fairgrounds in beautiful Cornish Maine. Eleven teams from all over the northeast will travel up to Cornish Maine to play base ball (two words in the 19th century) according 1864 rules, using lemon peel baseballs, wooden bats, and period uniforms.

We are in the process of looking for vendors, sponsors, and exhibitors to create an event that the people of New England will be proud of. This is an event that raises awareness of the history of the game and specifically the history of baseball in New England

Hello All,

I am sorry to announce that the New England Vintage Base Ball Festival is cancelled for this year and in perpetuity, as we are unable to use the Cornish Trotting Park going forward. It has been a fun event to run, participate in, and watch, and I thank each and every one of you that made this event what is was over the years.

Folks, it saddens me to announce this, but this year's event has to be cancelled. There are teams that were scheduled to travel from out of state, and the organizers of the event understand that it would be unwise to run it. We are really looking forward to running this festival in 2021!

Many thanks to all the fans, teams, and event organizers and volunteers that made this year’s festival so memorable. Congratulations to the Hingham Base Ball Club and the Dirigo Base Ball Club for their undefeated, 4-0 records for the festival. Also of note, the Sunrise Base Ball club won both of their games on Saturday and the Cornish town team won its game on Sunday giving Maine teams an undefeated record for the weekend. Must have been something in the water for the local guys! Thanks again to all and see you next year!!
