Band Evolution:
Timberwolf Musicians
* Active Since: 1982.
* Genre Progression: Started as an 80s rock band; shifted to country in the 1990s; currently performs classic rock and 50s/60s oldies.
* Notable Performance Venues: Tadd’s and the Coos Bay Eagles Lodge.
Coos Bay Venues & Businesses
* Gussie’s Dine & Dance (formerly Gussie's Diner): Owned by John Pundt and June Est-Pundt; historically was known for live music and gaming, including blackjack and poker.
* Acquisition & Bar History: When Gussie purchased the establishment, the physical bar was relocated to the site from either Deb’s Club or the Klondike Club.
* Gus Lackey Era: Under earlier management, the venue hosted national touring acts like The Coasters and comedy performances such as the Rocky Vasolino Show.
Sadly the building has been demolished.
* The Balboa Club (also known as the Bay Club): Located at Newmark Avenue and Cape Arago Highway; hosted live jazz, Dixieland, and dance bands like Elkhorn Express and Wild Horse Theatre.
The building burned to the ground and is now a small rest area called The Hollerin’ place.
* Stars Club / The Spotlight: Originally Gussie’s Dine & Dance and Stars Club before transitioning into a country bar called The Spotlight, notable for its large linoleum dance floor.
* Sportsman: A historic watering hole for loggers, dairy farmers, and fishermen; featured social gambling such as card games.
* Fran’s Tavern: A historic local establishment in Coos Bay.
* The Pan American: Located in Bunker Hill; featured social entertainment and card playing.
* Lindblad’s: A Bunker Hill venue that frequently hosted live bands, including Wild Horse Theatre.
* Yor Yee’s Sawdust Room: A historic restaurant and bar active during the 1950s and 1960s.
* Navigator Lounge: Located within the former Courtel Coos Bay; a prominent spot for live entertainment.
