Please join us in welcoming Emma Dooley, our new Catering & Conference Services Manager at The Otesaga Resort Hotel.

Growing up in Little Falls, New York, Emma was already familiar with Cooperstown and The Otesaga long before joining our team.

“The Otesaga was always a place that stood out to me for its history and beauty. As I started building my career in events, I could really picture myself working somewhere like this, so when the opportunity came along to join the events team, it felt like a natural next step for me.”

Emma brings experience in event planning, coordination, marketing and guest service to her new role. Most recently, she served as Event Coordinator at View Arts Center in Old Forge, where she helped plan and execute more than 30 annual events and facility rentals, coordinated large fundraising events, managed event logistics and supported marketing and communications efforts.

What draws Emma to events, though, goes beyond logistics.

A lifelong reader, she can now often be found with a book by Otsego Lake. Her appreciation for people and their stories carries directly into her approach to events—getting to know the people behind each celebration, understanding what matters to them and helping create an experience that feels personal.

Since arriving at The Otesaga, Emma says one thing has already made an impression: the people.

“From my first day, the staff have gone out of their way to make me feel like part of the team and help me learn everything that goes into creating the experience The Otesaga is known for.”

Some things are worth preserving.

One of the comments we hear most from returning guests is how familiar The Otesaga Resort Hotel feels, even after years away.

As a privately owned historic resort, that continuity is something we’re proud of. This photograph from our archives offers a glimpse into an earlier life at The Otesaga, yet so much of its character remains recognizable today.

Through thoughtful updates and careful stewardship, we’ve worked to preserve the architecture, details and sense of place that generations of guests have come to know.

More than a century later, still unmistakably Otesaga.

Happy National Photography Day.

Some places just ask to be photographed. The cupola at first light, the porch in afternoon shadow, the lake holding the whole property still. We have been giving people a reason to reach for the camera since 1909.

There is a point above Otsego Lake where the whole valley comes into view at once. The water, the village of Cooperstown, the fairways at Leatherstocking Golf Course, and the resort sitting quietly at the center of it, since 1909.

This is the lake James Fenimore Cooper called the Glimmerglass. We just call it home.

The Otesaga Resort Hotel just made another list of top 10's. Out of every hotel a well traveled writer stayed in this year, on six continents.

His reasoning was simple. Every baseball legend of the last century, Babe Ruth to Willie Mays, has stayed here. Otsego Lake sits just off the porch. Main Street carries more baseball history than most entire states. 1909 and Hawkeye Bar & Grill hold their own against the best.
