My love for face painting and creating has never stopped! I thought surely after years and years of face painting the excitement would ware off a bit. I was wrong!

Continuing to bring smiles to so many faces has been the main source of what keeps me doing what I love the most!

$40 and a DREAM!

15 years ago today we had our very first face painting gig! It was at a local church doing pay per face. After nearly getting fired as a loyal employee never showing up late never calling in sick and even covering for others who would call out, my newborn baby cheyenne was having ear infections. My mom called me at work while we were in a meeting to let me know her fever of 103 was not going down and I needed to come home to take her to the hospital..

I didn't hesitate. I told my boss I had to leave. There was an emergency with my newborn baby! That's when after four years and everything else he asked me what was more important. My job or my daughter?! And made a comment people like me shouldn't work. And that if I left, he would have to let me go. So I handed it over my badge and walked myself right out of those doors!!!

I knew that this would be an ongoing thing with my daughter at least until I could get her ear surgery. Scared and not knowing what to do. The idea came to my mind. I am going to start my own face painting business!

My mom supported me 100% and which is $40 and a dream and goal in mind and two children to take care of as a single mom, I bought a snazzaro paint, palette and three brushes.

Before Instagram was popular, and there was barely any videos on social media I came across the artist Lisa Joy Young. She was phenomenal and still is! I watched her paint and practiced washed her paint and practiced and washed her paint and practiced. With the help of my two children's faces and a lot of patience. They allowed me to paint them.

Mom soon joined me and even started twisting balloon balloons to add to our small business. We went to conventions we took classes we never gave up. Failure was not an option!

I can go on and on, but I just want to thank my mom Beverly Drinkwater for standing by my side and for being the best ever business partner I could ever ask for! I want to take my daughter Cheyenne Lee LK for stepping up and helping out when her grandmother became ill. She is now officially a Facepainter, a balloon twister, and a glitter tattoo artist!

I want to thank the Facepainter community and fellow artists who have become friends, those who have stood by her side, our clients and most of all God! I was so thankful for being able to really love what I am doing, being my own boss, making my own schedule and living an absolute dream!

Here's to 15 amazing years in business! We will be having a party. I will announce it, but all is welcome to come. It will be at a local restaurant/bar who have also supported us along our way! So stay tuned for the date and here's to another 15 years!!!!🎉🙏🏻❤️🎉🙏🏻❤️
