Nosh Fest 2018

Nosh Fest is the premier Food Festival in Cooper City. It was created by members of Temple Beth Emet in 2009 for the primary purpose of providing food to those in need, given unprecedented levels of unemployment and economic distress throughout Broward, Miami-Dade and Palm Beach Counties. The event’s organizers also wanted to share Jewish cuisine and culture with our neighbors, and to have fun doing so.

More than one thousand people attended the 1st Annual Nosh Fest in December, 2009. In previous years, both attendance and the amount of food collected was more than double that of the original year. As in previous years, admission to this year’s food festival requires a donation of canned goods to benefit the local food banks, but is otherwise free. Because the need is greater than ever, we are requesting each attendee to donate five non-perishable items of food cans of food or donate $5.

Attendees can “Nosh” [taste] different cuisines and enjoy tastes from local restaurants and food vendors. All food will be available for a nominal fee.

Entertainment options in the past have included a Food Network style cooking competition, cooking demonstrations by local chefs and cooking professionals, musical performances, and plenty of children’s activities. Changes are in store for 2018!

Nosh Fest promises to be bigger and better than last year!

Canned foods collected from attendees and a portion of the proceeds of Nosh Fest will be provided to local food banks and pantries serving South Florida’s residents.

Feeding South Florida is the sole Feeding America Food bank serving Palm Beach, Broward, Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties. They are the largest and most efficient food bank in each of the counties we serve. More than 98% of all donations are put back into the community. For every $1 donated to us, we can provide 6 meals. Through direct-service programs and a network of nonprofit partner agencies, including soup kitchens, food pantries, homeless shelters, and group homes, Feeding South Florida rescuses and distributes more than 40 million punds of food every year, as well as leads hunder and poverty advocacy efforts and provides innovative programming and education.

Goodman JFS has launched The Cupboard – a kosher food pantry with the goal of wiping out Jewish hunger in Broward County. Our whole-person approach starts with food provision through the distribution of nutritious, kosher food clients can pick from in our choice market layout. Our mission is to alleviate hunger in the Jewish community of Broward County by soliciting, collecting, providing and, where necessary, delivering food directly to, and in conjunction with, all the agencies that service this diverse population.
