TTU Percussion Studio

TTU Percussion Studio 🦅 Directors: Jayce Clemons, Joe Frank Williams, Dr. Mike Olsen, Dr. Colton Morris, Dr. Colin Hill Sparr, and Leroy Osmon.

THE TENNESSEE TECH PERCUSSION ENSEMBLE, directed by Dr. Colin Hill, plays a significant role in the percussion curriculum at TTU. Comprised of an all-undergraduate membership, the ensemble performs an average of four concerts annually, in addition to monthly campus presentations with the TTU Percussion Club. The ensemble has performed with such noted artists as Bob Becker, Josh Jennings, Kris Keet

on, Brian Mason, and Dan Moore. They have commissioned and/or premiered works by Paul Lansky, Christopher Deane, Blake Tyson, Christopher Adler, John Psathas, D.J. Members of the TTU Percussion Ensemble have studied at the Leigh Howard Stevens’ Marimba Seminar, the So Percussion Summer Institute, and the Nief-Norf Summer Festival. Several members have marched as members of Carolina Crown, Music City, Phantom Regiment, Southwind, and Spirit of Atlanta Drum and Bugle Corps. On campus, a percussion student has been awarded the coveted TTU Department of Music’s “Outstanding Music Major” for four consecutive years. The ensemble’s performance at PASIC 2012 marks their first appearance at the convention.

Only 2 days left to register for TN Tech's Live Audio Summer Academy! This 1-day adult camp (ages 18 and older) is designed for individuals who want to learn more about mixing sound for the marching arts, church, musical theater, rock bands, and other large live performance events.

The Tennessee Tech Golden Eagle Marching Band received new uniforms last season and we are selling our old uniforms for $30 as a fundraiser. This includes pants, jacket, shako, plume, and gauntlets. You can pick up from campus or pay to have it shipped ($15). We will be selling these through August so get them while they last!

The Women’s Chamber Collaborative, presented by the Southeastern Women in Music Symposium (SWIMS), is an exciting two-day event designed for high school musicians. Hosted at Tennessee Tech University on May 9-10, 2025, this event gives students the opportunity to perform in small chamber ensembles while working with inspiring female music majors, female conductors and clinicians.

Participants will rehearse and perform music exclusively by female composers, engage in mentorship sessions, and take part in discussions about musicianship and leadership. The event will culminate in a final concert showcasing each ensemble!

This is a wonderful opportunity to develop your musicianship, connect with fellow performers, and be part of an inspiring and supportive musical community. We’d love for you to join us!
