Here’s the new one from Julia Jacklin, her first with 4AD. There’s a lot going on here that I think is going to reveal itself more with repeated listens. The songwriting feels really personal and the arrangements are compelling. The album trades off between Indie rock songs and downtempo folk numbers. Definitely feels like a record made for putting on, sitting back, and actually listening to the whole thing. Check it out.

A great fall album. Document by R.E.M. has that perfect combination of warm, jangly guitars and a little bit of melancholy that just feels right this time of year. It’s also a pretty significant record in the R.E.M. story: Document was their fifth studio album and their first album produced with Scott Litt, who would go on to play a huge role in shaping their sound over the next several years. And of course, you get “The One I Love” and “It’s the End of the World as We Know It,” which are both classics. Great album overall.

Today we’re listening to a 90s hip-hop classic, the sophomore album by Organized Konfusion. I’m really loving this new pressing via Get On Down. Check it out.

Here are a few of the records I’ve been spinning recently

— Dollhouse
NYC indie rock with noisy guitars, post-punk energy and dreamy/shoegaze textures.

— Wish Road South
Beautifully melodic indie-folk from Brighton’s Max Kinghorn-Mills, with classic pop and British folk influences.

— Thick Heat
Instrumental psych, funk, soul and cinematic grooves from St. Petersburg, Florida.

— There Near
Fuzzed-out guitars, huge riffs and melodic alternative rock from one of the genre’s defining bands.

— Paddywhackery
Raucous Irish folk meets rock ’n’ roll from Dundalk, Ireland.

This is the debut release by a five-piece instrumental group from Florida called Soft Cuff. They’re labeled as a psych rock band, but I find this album leans heavily into funk and soul. It’s a really great record and I’m excited to hear more from this group.

Here are some records I rescued from the discount bins, but, after spending some time with them, consider them just as good as any other record in my collection. So good in fact, that I felt like they were worth sharing. if you wanna pick up a copy for yourself, you can find most of them pretty cheap on Discogs and it’s well worth it.

Here are a few more psych rock bands that I really enjoy. First off, we have the only Swedish band in my collection . They have several albums that are really great, but this one is still my favorite. Next, it’s a two-piece band called , another project of Riley Johnson. I enjoy something different about each of his projects and this album really rocks. Then we have my favorite album from the band . This might be the most chill album in my stack today, perfect for a lazy morning vibe. After that, it’s the prolific . I really love how this band moves between psychedelic rock, post punk and hard rock. Maybe even a little folk in there at times. And lastly, we have . This album moves between droney, slow core sounds and psych/hard rock riffs. Really great stuff.
