This month is Petting Zoo Pal November! Learn all about our furry friends, where they are from, what they eat, how they live alongside people, & much, MUCH more!

The Learning Zoo is home to many kinds of hoofed animals, and they may have relatives that surprise you. Meet Pua from Disney’s movie, Moana and watch her trot around her outdoor playground and take a carrot from your palm! Or giggle while you watch our mini zebu Ferdinand play with his goat best friend, Groot. Can you guess what animal is closely related to Elsa, the Wesh pony?

Admission Includes:
🐷Access to the zoo (Reptile House, Bird Aviary, Petting Zoo, and Tortoise Gardens) 🐷Scavenger Hunt, •Prizes, & 🐷Correlating Craft
🐽Animal Feed can be purchased in the Gift Shop. Ranges from $2-$10🐽

Join us for a safe and educational hands-on encounter with Zookeeper Drew and have all of your furry animal questions answered by a professional zookeeper. Event is hosted between 10am-Noon & Noon-2pm, you may come and go as you wish depending on which slot you choose.

-Event will be held outside, Rain or Shine-

What’s the difference between a porcupine and a hedgehog?
A lot, actually!

Even though they both have sharp quills for protection from predators, these two animals are about as different as two mammals can be.

Hedgehogs:
Eat insects and small vertebrates
Are solitary and live 3-4 years on average
Roll up in a ball when attacked to protect their underside
Distantly related to moles and shrews

Porcupines:
Eat leaves, bark, roots, fruit, and nuts
Live in family groups of mom, dad, and offspring
Turn their back on attackers and back up with quills erected to stab predators.
Close cousins of Guinea pigs, hamsters, and other rodents.
