Through the Looking Glass… and straight into our hearts. 🐾✨

Last night’s Friends For Life Gala brought imagination, generosity and a whole lot of heart together for our fur babies—and Events by Jen was honored to help bring it to life!

Friends For Life works to save animals regardless of breed, age or condition, while helping families care for the pets they love. Their goal: a safe home for every animal. 💙

It takes an incredible team to create an evening like this, and I am so grateful to:

✨ Houston for an immersive setting that brought our Looking Glass world to life.

🍽️ Chef David Cordua and his catering team from Lymbar for an incredibly creative menu that was perfectly on theme—and 100% VEGAN! Every detail reflected the imagination of the evening and the mission behind it.

🐾 The Friends For Life team for tirelessly advocating for our fur babies and putting so much heart into their work.

💥 Our very own amazing Jessica Musselman for bringing her energy and heart as our Paddles Up caller!

A little BELATED event-week love because apparently we were too busy pounding the pavement to actually post about pounding the pavement. 😂💙

And the craziest part?

SAME CLIENT. SAME WEEK.

DODGEBALL. 💥
PRE-RODEO DINNER. 🤠
RODEO. 🐎
A full-on Game Day Sports Takeover at Kirby Ice House. 🏈🏀⚾️

Add in 4 hotels, 20 buses, vendor logistics, transportation coordination, timelines, load-ins, load-outs, guest movement, moving pieces on top of moving pieces…and OH. MY.

Talk about an adrenaline-fueled week.

Early mornings. Late nights. Very little rest. A phone that never stopped. A car that looked like an event supply warehouse. And a whole lot of running on adrenaline like it was Christmas Eve.

And truthfully?

It’s my favorite time of year.

There is something about taking one client through multiple completely different experiences and making every single piece feel seamless that just lights me up.

The planning.
The logistics.
The vendor teams.
The transportation.
The last-minute pivots.
The controlled chaos behind the scenes that guests never even know happened.

And none of it happens without incredible partners.

HUGE shoutout to my friends at the Marriott, The Westin, Kirby Ice House, Spectrum, C&S Transportation, and Angel with The Haven for helping bring every piece of this crazy, wonderful week together.

These are the people who answer the calls, make the pivots, solve the problems, move the people, open the doors, and somehow keep smiling through all of it.

From dodging dodgeballs to boots and rodeo nights to taking over Kirby Ice House for one MASSIVE game-day experience — this one was a WEEK.

And when it’s all over, you finally look up and think…

Holy cow. We really just pulled all of that off. 💙

Head down. Do the work.

Breaks and bruises make us bad a$$.

POV: You’re an event planner and every corner of your phone is yelling at you. 😂📲

A vendor text.
A client email.
A venue update.
A delivery change.
A “quick question.”
And, of course, the message that starts with: “Don’t panic, but…”

Event planning isn’t just about staying organized - it’s about staying five steps ahead while the details change by the minute.

Behind every seamless event is a planner juggling 47 conversations, updating three timelines and calmly replying, “Absolutely - we can make that work.” 😅

Organized chaos? Maybe.
Handled? Always. 💙

If you know me, you know how I feel about anything involving planes, trains and automobiles. 🥰🚁

After six years of planning golf tournaments - and an abundance of helicopter ball drops to kick them off - I finally got to go up today and check off a bucket-list item!

Combine flying and golf?! Say less. 🙌🏼⛳️🚁

People ask me all the time, “How do you do it?”

Run a business.
Work events at the restaurant.
Raise a high schooler as a single mom.
Get to the gym.
Make time for my Mini Me.
Build relationships.
Chase big goals.
And somehow keep all the plates spinning (not always well, and likely a couple will fall from time to time:))

The answer?

Organization. Discipline. And sheer drive.

I’ve always believed we can become whatever we want to be when we grow up - and I’m still growing up.

I believe in working harder than anyone else in the room. In putting your head down and doing the work when nobody is watching. In being disciplined when it would be a whole lot easier to play.

Is it for everyone? Nope.

But hard work has consistently yielded positive results in my world.

And here’s the part people don’t always see:

I fail. A LOT.

Things don’t go according to plan. I make the wrong call. I overcommit. I get knocked down. Plans change. People change. Life changes.

So I do what I know how to do.

Learn. Pivot. Course correct. Keep moving.

Failing forward has been one of the greatest tools for growth in my life. Failure doesn’t scare me nearly as much as standing still does.

One of my favorite sayings is:

“Breaks and bruises make us badass.”

Why?

Because it means we tried.

The bumps, the bruises, the scars, the failures - they’re proof that we stepped into the arena. We took the chance. We chased the thing. We were willing to risk falling flat on our face for something we believed in.

You don’t get battle wounds sitting safely on the sidelines.

I’ll take the bruises. I’ll take the lessons. I’ll take the spectacular failures right alongside the wins - because every single one means I showed up and tried.

And every time I get knocked down, I get a little smarter, a little stronger, and a whole lot harder to knock down the next time.

And balance?

I don’t think balance means giving everything an equal piece of you every single day.

Some days the business gets more. Some days my daughter does. Some days an event demands everything I’ve got. And some days I need the gym, a little quiet, and a reset.

The goal isn’t perfection. The goal is progress.

ᴀɴᴅ ᴏɴᴇ ᴏꜰ ᴍʏ ʙɪɢɢᴇꜱᴛ ᴍᴏᴛɪᴠᴀᴛᴏʀꜱ ɪꜱ ᴋɴᴏᴡɪɴɢ ᴍʏ ʟɪᴛᴛʟᴇ ʙɪᴛ ɪꜱ ᴡᴀᴛᴄʜɪɴɢ ᴍᴇ ᴅᴏ ᴀʟʟ ᴏꜰ ɪᴛ.

I want her to know that big dreams require big work. That independence is powerful. That you can build something from nothing. That getting knocked down doesn’t mean you stay there.

And that there is absolutely no expiration date on deciding you want MORE for your life.

So how do I do it?

I stay organized.
I set goals.
I work my ass off.
I surround myself with good people.
I learn from my mistakes.
I pivot when I need to.
And every morning, I get up and go again.

One day at a time.
One dream at a time.
One goal at a time.

Head down. Do the work. Be kind. Stay hungry. Keep growing.

Success rarely happens overnight.

But if you keep showing up for the life you’re trying to build, one day you look around and realize...

You’re already living pieces of the dream you once prayed for.

And then?

You set the next goal. 💙
