Fun Facts Friday: Event Planner Edition
(AKA: Things I Know That Have Nothing To Do With My Job… Except They Totally Do.)

1. I can fold a napkin 6 different waysβ€”with one handβ€”while giving directions to the AV crew.
2. I know the drying time of 14 types of glue… and which one bonds rhinestones to sweaty skin.
3. I’ve eaten more meals standing behind a drape than at an actual dinner table.
4. I can smell a blown circuit before the lights go out.
5. I’ve used fishing line, dental floss, and earring backs to save the dayβ€”on the same event.
6. My Toolbox? It’s basically a mobile hardware store meets first aid kit meets snack drawer meets Office Depot.
7. I can identify the sound of a vendor van backing up… from three floors away.
8. I have five weather apps. I trust none of them.
9. My stress language? Clipboard slaps and deep exhales.
10. I don’t sweat the small stuffβ€”I pack it, label it, and color code it.

Because behind every flawless event is a planner who’s part MacGyver, part therapist, and part caffeine-fueled wizard.

Thoughts for Thursday: Event Planner Edition

Let’s be honestβ€”this job isn’t just about pretty tables and Pinterest boards.

⏰ It’s chasing down a missing vendor 10 minutes before doors open.

♨️ It’s steaming 20 linens while answering three radios and calming down a stressed-out bride.
It’s knowing exactly where the extension cords areβ€”because no one else does.

🌺 It’s fixing the florist’s mess, flipping a room in 20 minutes, and still smiling for the client photo.

πŸ’™ It’s not for the faint of heart.

πŸͺ„ But for those of us who live for the pressure, the pace, and the payoffβ€”it’s magic.

Huge shout out to the incredible team at Mastro’s , Sara Toy and all of the Eventers that showed up last night for our Hospitality Managers of the Woodlands May networking event. They have several spaces for private rooms, the gorgeous patio with water features, or the entire venue for your next event.

Thank you for showing up and showing out BIG. Seafood, Sushi, Prime Rib, Pork Belly, Accompaniments and the most amazing mini desserts. (If you saw me eat 5, no you didn’t 😝).

To all of our Eventer Friends, Managers, and Vendors, thank you for joining us each month to collaborate, brainstorm and continue to improve our guest’s experience when they’re in our care. We call them guests for a reason and you all make this town so incredibly proud with each event and interaction.

You can have the best vision in the world… but if your logistics are trash, your event will be too.

Let’s talk β€œBoots on the Ground”.

It’s not the pretty mood boards or Pinterest-perfect ideas that keep an event from falling apartβ€”it’s the people who show up early, stay late, and solve problems before guests ever see them.

Logistics is the engine.

β€’ πŸ“ˆ Real-time problem solving when something inevitably goes sideways

You need a team who knows the venue better than the venue manager.
You need eyes, ears, and decision-makers on the floorβ€”not just behind a laptop.

Because on event day, it’s too late to fix what wasn’t planned.

Great events are built in the details.
And delivered by the people who don’t mind getting their hands dirty.
